For Your Safety

General Safety Information
Before using the product, read these instructions for use and those for the associated
products carefully.
Follow the instructions for use precisely. The user must fully understand the instructions and
follow them to the letter. The product may only be used in accordance with the intended use.
Do not dispose of the instructions for use. Make sure these are kept and used appropriately
by the user.
The product may only be used by trained experts.
Local and national guidelines relating to this product must be observed.
The product may only be inspected, repaired and serviced as described in these instructions
for use (see "Maintenance" on page 25) by trained experts. Maintenance work that is not
described in these instructions for use may only be carried out by Dräger or by specialists
trained by Dräger. Dräger recommends taking out a service contract with Dräger.
Only original Dräger parts and accessories should be used for maintenance work. Third-party
products could impair the correct functioning of the product.
Do not use defective or incomplete products. The product must not be modified in any way.
Notify Dräger of any defects or failures of the product or product parts.
Safe Connection of Electrical Devices
Never connect this device to other electrical devices not mentioned in these IFUs before
consulting the manufacturer or an expert.
Use in Areas Subject to Explosion Hazards
Devices or components which are used in potentially explosive atmospheres and were tested
and approved according to national, European or international regulations may only be used in
conditions specified in the approval and under observation of relevant legal regulations.
The electrical equipment may not be modified. Never use defective or incomplete parts. When
making repairs to equipment or components of this type, the relevant regulations must be
adhered to.
Meaning of warning symbols
The following warning symbols are used in this document to identify and highlight the relevant
warning texts where increased care is required on the part of the user. The warning symbols
are defined as follows:
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation.
If this is not avoided it may result in death or serious injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation. If this is not avoided it may lead to injury or to
damage to the product or the environment. This symbol can also be used to warn against
inappropriate use.

Intended Use

Dräger PIR 7000 infrared gas transmitter
– For stationary, continuous monitoring of the concentration of combustible gases and
vapours containing hydrocarbons in a suitable atmosphere.
– Measuring range type 334: 0 to 20 ... 100 %LEL
(IDS 01x1)
0 to 100 % vol. methane.
– Measuring range type 340: 0 to 5 ... 100 %LEL
(IDS 01x2)
e.g. 0 to 850 ppm propane.
– Can be alternatively configured for various gases and vapours.
Dräger PIR 7200 infrared gas transmitter
– For stationary, continuous monitoring of the concentration of carbon dioxide in the ambient air.
– Measuring range:
(IDS 01x5)
Measuring principle: Measurement of the concentration of hydrocarbons or carbon dioxide
according to the principle of absorption of infrared radiation.
With 4 to 20 mA analogue output signal for measuring mode, bi-directional serial interface and

HART
interface for configuration and measuring mode (optional).
Suitable for use in rough ambient conditions (e.g. offshore).
For installation in either Ex areas zone 1, 2 or 21, 22 corresponding to device category 2G, 3G
or 2D, 3D or Class I or II, Div. 1 or 2 hazardous areas.
In connection with a central device (e.g. Dräger REGARD):
– Warning before an explosive concentration level is reached.
– Automatic initiation of countermeasures which avert the explosion hazard (e.g. switching on
ventilation).
– Device error warning.
– Special calibration mode (blocking of alarm triggering, one-man calibration).
In combination with the operating and display units Dräger Polytron 57x0 / Dräger
Polytron 87x0 and Dräger Pointgard 27x0 (see the relevant instructions for use):
– Display of the measured value.
– Configuration of the gas transmitter.
