7. OPERATING MODE

7.1 SETTING ZERO

It is only necessary to set zero for measurements of DC current or for measurements on AC
with a DC component.
 Connect the E6N clamp to a
multimeter (black lead to the
common and red lead to the
« Volt » input).
 Place the function / range
switch of the multimeter on the
mV
DC
position.
Choose
a
measurement extent that has a
resolution of 10 mV.
 Place the function switch
(located
on
the
handle)
on
position 1 A/V.
 Using the thumb wheel, display on the multimeter a value as close as possible to 0.
NB: for measurements of DC currents with low values (for example less than 5 A), the
accuracy will be improved if the zero reset is done before each measurement.
Zero reset is also advised if the current to be measured is very different from that of the
previous measurement. For example, after measurements of 100 A DC, we advise resetting
zero before measuring currents of around 10 amps. Zero reset is also advised after
changing the polarity of the current measured.

7.2 CURRENT MEASUREMENTS

- Place the switch of the clamp on 100
A/V or 1 A/V. Check that the light
indicator is on.
- Connect the E6N clamp to a voltmeter
on the 2 V AC or DC range (black lead
to common and red lead to the «Volt»
input).
- If necessary, reset zero (see above).
- Enclose the jaws of the clamp around
the conductor carrying the current to be
measured. Check that the conductor is
aligned in relation to the marks and that
the clamp is fully closed.
