Your Researcher ICD microscope comes with either Halogen (Art. No. 58-03000) or
LED (Art. No. 58-03100) illumination. Operation of these models is slightly different.
1. Choosing a place for the microscope
Before starting, choose a sufficient location for microscoping. Please take care that your
microscope stands on an even and solid ground. For observing, a 230 V/50 Hz wall
connector is required. With LED illumination, a wall connector will be needed to recharge
the internal batteries.
2. Illumination
With the Researcher ICD, you have three illumination options: upper light, transmission
light and both. First, connect the 230 V cord to a wall connector. Now, engage the main
switch (13). With the source switch (14), you can adjust the illumination type: Pos. I for
upper light, pos. II for transmission light, pos. III for both. At position 0, both lamps are
off. With the dimmer (12), one can adjust the brightness.
3. Observation
First, remove the dust protective cover (10) from the objective holder (2). Place the
desired object in the middle of the stage (5) and secure it with the clamps (6) if
necessary. The objective's magnification (2x or 4x) can be adjusted by turning the
objective holder (2). It is recommended to start observations always with the lowest
magnification. Now look through the eyepieces (3) at the binocular head (1). Adjust the
sharpness with the focuser (7).
