4. Focusing and dioptre compensation
Set the dioptre scale (9) to „0" and observe an object. Now close your left eye and adjust
the focus with the focuser (7) for your right eye. Then, close your right eye and adjust the
focus for your left eye with the dioptre scale (9). Now, the microscope is adjusted for your
eyes. Note the setting of the dioptre scale you need to use in future.
5. Eye distance
The Researcher ICD is equipped with an adjustable binocular head. To set your eye
distance, move the eyepieces against each other until you found the ideal position.
6. Replacing the halogen bulb (Halogen version only)
First, disconnect the microscope from the 230 V source and allow the illumination to
cool down (approx. 5 minutes). To change a defective Lamp (8), perform the following
steps: For the bottom lamp, remove the covering glass (15). For the upper light, screw
off the lamp housing (16) in order to pull out the lamp. Spare bulbs (12 V/10 W) can be
purchased in electronic stores. After changing the bulb, clean the new bulb with alcohol
before using it.
Note:
The illumination of the LED model has a life span of approx. 20,000 hours. In the case of a
technical error please contact the service center.
7. Replacing the fuse (Halogen version only)
The Researcher ICD Halogen is equipped with two fuses (11) (250 V/0.5 A). First,
disconnect the power cord. Screw off the fuse holder (11) with a fitting screwdriver.
Replace the fuse by a new one (250 V/0.5 A).
8. Replacing the rechargeable batteries (LED version only)
In the case the batteries become defective, they can be replaced by new ones. Open
the Battery section at the underside of the microscope and put three new rechargeable
batteries (Type NiMH AA 1.2V, ca. 1200 mAh) in place (17). Please take care of the
correct position!
CAUTION:
DO NOT use non-rechargeable batteries. This may cause fire and/or explosion!
9. Cleaning and maintenance
Your microscope is a high-quality optical instrument. Please take care that neither dust
nor fingerprints take place on the optical surfaces. If necessary, clean the microscope
body with a slightly moistened soft cloth. Use a separate clean cloth with some drops of
alcohol to clean the optical surfaces. After using, the microscope should be protected
with its dust cover.
