Vibration emission value a
directions) and uncertainty K measured in accor-
dance with EN 60745:
Machine housing
Additional handle
The specified emissions values (vibration, noise)
– are used to compare machines.
– They are also used for making preliminary esti-
mates regarding vibration and noise loads during
operation.
– They represent the primary applications of the
power tool.
Increase possible for other applications, with other
insertion tools or if not maintained adequately. Take
note of idling and downtimes of machine!

Operation
WARNING
Unauthorised voltage or frequency!
Risk of accident
The mains voltage and the frequency of the pow-
er source must correspond with the specifica-
tions on the machine's name plate.
In North America, only Festool machines with
the voltage specifications 120 V/60 Hz may be
used.
The switch [1-4] is an on/off switch (press = ON, re-
lease = OFF).
The locking button [1-3] can be engaged to operate in
continuous mode. Press the switch again to release
the knob.

WARNING
Risk of injury, electric shock
Always pull the mains plug out of the socket be-
fore performing any type of work on the ma-
chine!
7.1
Electronics
The machine features full-wave electronics with the
following features:

Smooth start-up
The electronically controlled smooth start-up en-
sures that the machine starts up jolt-free.
2
Speed control
2
The speed reached when the switch [1-4] is pressed
all the way in can be set to between 600 and 2100 rpm
2
using the adjusting wheel [1-2]. This enables you to
2
optimise the cutting speed to suit the surface (see ta-
ble).
 The machine is fitted with an accelerator switch:
pressing the on/off switch harder increases the
speed. The speed can be regulated steplessly be-
tween 400 rpm and the speed preset on the ad-
justing wheel.
Application
Working in polish
Polishing sensitive surfaces
High-gloss polishing
Constant speed
The preselected motor speed remains constant
through electronic control to ensure a uniform cut-
ting speed even when under load.
Temperature cut-out
The machine power supply is limited and the speed
reduced if the motor exceeds a certain temperature.
The machine continues operating at reduced power
to allow the ventilator to cool the motor quickly. The
machine starts up again automatically once the mo-
tor has cooled sufficiently.
Current limiting
Current limiting prevents permissibly high current
consumption under extreme overload, which can
lead to a decrease in the motor speed. The motor im-
mediately restarts after the load is removed.
7.2
Attaching polishing pads
Only use polishing pads that are suitable for the max-
imum speed specified.
The polishing pads M 14 are fitted with a thread M 14
and are screwed directly onto the spindle.
Procedure
Press the spindle stop [2-1].
Turn the tool spindle [2-3] until the spindle stop
engages when pressed and the tool spindle locks.
Screw the polishing pad [2-2] onto the tool spin-
dle or unscrew from the tool spindle.
