English
mediven
ulcer kit
®
The treatment system for venous leg
ulcers (ulcus cruris venosum)
comprising a liner stocking with 20
mmHg pressure at the ankle and a
medical compression stocking with 20
mmHg. Both stockings are characteri-
sed by their anatomically knitted form
and high degree of wearing comfort.
Measuring for the mediven ulcer kit
Correct measurements are essential for
proper patient care. The correct size is
defined by the ankle measurement (cB).
The size is confirmed by measuring again
below the knee (cD).
Use
The mediven ulcer kit consists of two
compressive stockings (mediven ulcer
and mediven ulcer plus).
The two stocking components have been
conceived so that the mediven ulcer
provides permanent compression, day
and night, and the mediven ulcer plus
generally promotes and reinforces this
compression during active phases and/or
during the day.
Permanent compression of the wound
area, even at rest (mediven ulcer), is
particularly important during the early
stages of ulcer therapy.
Compression of 40 mmHg has proved to
be medically effective during the active
mobile phases. This compression is
achieved by wearing the mediven ulcer
plus over the mediven ulcer.
Once the ulcer has healed and any
oedema and/or haematomas have
resolved, long-term care with a medical
compression stocking is vital to prevent
the reoccurrence (relapse) of the leg ulcer.
In contrast to conventional compression
bandages, mediven ulcer kit provides not
only adequate working pressure of
40 mmHg, but also tolerable resting
pressure of 20 mmHg

Fitting instructions

Putting on mediven ulcer with the
medi Butler
• Gather up the mediven ulcer over the
stirrup of the Butler until the colour
mark appears over the edge of the
stirrup.
• Slip your foot into the stocking down to
the ground and place it firmly on the
floor.
• Grip the handles and pull the stocking
up to the middle of the calf. Pull the
medi Butler away backwards.
• Now pull the stocking up evenly to just
below the knee. The tension you exert
determines the length of the stocking.
• Finally check that the stocking fits
correctly and has not developed any
wrinkles.
Putting on mediven ulcer without the
medi Butler
• Gather up the mediven ulcer or turn it
inside out down to the ankle.
• Pull the foot section up over the foot
until the size mark is positioned over
the ankle and the dorsum of the foot.
• Now, making sure not to twist it, and
avoiding wrinkles, pull the stocking up
over the ankle and calf and up to just
below the knee. The tension you exert
determines the length of the stocking.
• Finally check that the stocking fits
correctly and has not developed any
wrinkles.
Putting on mediven ulcer plus with the
medi Butler
• Gather up the mediven ulcer over the
stirrup of the Butler until the colour
mark appears over the edge of the
stirrup.
• Slip your foot into the stocking down to
the ground and place it firmly on the
floor.
• Grip the handles and pull the stocking
up to the middle of the calf. Pull the
medi Butler away backwards.
