Cordless SLAVE operation
Controllo SLAVE senza cavi
9. Cordless SLAVE operation
The SLAVE mode permits cordless, delay-free remote
triggering of several additional SLAVE or servo flash
units. Advantages for the photographer:
- Mobile use of several flash units.
- No synch cable connection with the camera.
- Modelling illumination.
The SLAVE flash unit is triggered by a light pulse emitted
by the master flash unit (controller) mounted on the came-
ra or by the camera's built-in flash.
The red-eye reduction preflash function must
not be activated on the controller or camera
when the mecablitz is used as a SLAVE! SLAVE
mode of the mecablitz is not possible in com-
bination with the stroboscopic function, high-
speed synchronisation (FP or HSS), Canon A-
TTL and E-TTL, Minolta-ADI or Nikon 3D flash
mode! If necessary these modes have to be
deactivated on the camera, the SCA adapter of
the controller or on the controller (see corre-
sponding operating instructions).
The hot shoe and the earthing contacts on the
side of the mounting foot
short-circuited.
The SLAVE flash unit and the controller are both triggered
when the camera's shutter release is pressed. Both the
controller and the SLAVE flash unit must be ready for firing
when the picture is shot (illuminated flash-ready signal on
the flash unit).
To ensure reliable operation the sensor
blitz must receive sufficient light from the controller! In the
event of malfunction it may be necessary to change the posi-
tion of the SLAVE so that its sensor
The mecablitz must be mounted on the supplied stand or
combined with the camera on the „34-36 flash bracket"
for SLAVE mode. The mecablitz with stand is set up in the
required position or mounted on a tripod. Normally, the
reflector of the SLAVE flash unit will be directed towards
the subject.
Our tip:
For off-camera operation (the mecablitz is operated as a
SLAVE at a distance from the camera), the wide-angle dif-
fuser W (8) should be positioned in front of the reflector to
achieve the widest possible illumination of the subject.
The following three SLAVE functions are available:
