INFORMATION
In order to facilitate the parallel alignment of the system joints, each pair of
system joints is supplied with an adjustment aid. The adjustment aid con
sists of 2 cap screws and 1 parallel truing tube.
The system ankle joints can be equipped with a choice of stop screws or
compression springs in order to limit movement, e. g. for dorsal extension.
Due to varying alignment parameters, such as the generated forefoot lever
age or the flexion position of the orthosis, the system ankle joints are subjec
ted to increased strain.
Installing the system bar in the system ankle joint
1) Insert the system bar (17) into the system bar receiver (11) and mark the
bore on the system bar (17).
2) Remove the system bar (17) from the system bar receiver (11) and drill a
Ø 4 mm bore in the system bar (17).
3) Secure the system bar (17) and the system ankle joint with the set
screw (9).
Gluing the system bar
For stability reasons, the system bar (17) must be glued into the system bar
receiver (11) of the system ankle joints using 636W28 Ottobock Special
Adhesive.
1) Use 634A1 Ottobock Thinner and Solvent to degrease the bonding sur
faces of the system bar (17) and the system bar receiver (11).
2) Mix the content of the two tubes – special adhesive and hardener – thor
oughly and apply it to the components being glued.
3) Insert the system bar (17) and secure it with the set screw (9). The final
bonding strength of the adhesive is reached after 16 h.
4) Prior to delivering the orthosis:
Secure the joint bolt (4) and the joint nut (8) with 636K13 Loctite® 241.
Verify the proper functionality of the product.
Removing the system bar
1) Unscrew the set screw (9).
2) Tap out and remove the system bar (17).
7 Cleaning
After contact with water containing salt, chlorine or soap, or when they get
dirty, the system joints must be cleaned promptly:
