3.5 Chimney and flue pipe
• The fireplace can be connected to a chimney and flue
pipe approved for solid fuel fired fireplaces with flue gas
temperatures specified in «2.0 Technical data».
• The chimney's cross-section must be at least as big as the
flue pipe's cross-section. See «2.0 Technical data» when
calculating the correct chimney cross-section.
• The fireplace should not be connected to a shared chimney.
Contact your local building authority regarding restrictions
and installation requirements.
• Connection to the chimney must be carried out in accordance
with the installation instructions from the supplier of the
chimney.
• Before making a hole in the chimney the fireplace should be
test-mounted in order to correctly mark the position of the
fireplace and the hole in the chimney. See fig. 1 for minimum
dimensions.
• Ensure that the flue pipe is inclined all the way up to the
chimney.
• Use a flue pipe bend with a sweeping hatch that allows it to
be swept.
Be aware of the fact that connections must have a certain
flexibility in order to prevent movement in the installation
leading to cracks.
N.B. A correct and sealed connection is very important for the
proper functioning of the product.
Warning! Weight from the fireplace must not be transferred to the
chimney. The fireplace must not interfere with the ability of the
chimney to move and it must not be fastened to the chimney.
Recommended chimney draught, see «2.0 Technical data»If the
draught is too strong you can install and operate a flue damper
to control the draught.
3.6 Preparation/installation
Make sure that the fireplace insert is free of damage before
commencing with the installation.
The product is heavy! Make sure you have assistance when
erecting and installing the fireplace.
Attachment of legs (fig. 3) and bottom heat
shield (fig 4)
1. After unpacking the stove insert, remove the box with content
and any burn plates to make the product lighter. The baffle
plates may also be removed. See: «7.0 Service».
2. The product is heavy. The door should therefore be removed
before attaching the legs.
3. Place the insert carefully down on its back (you may want to
use the wooden pallet and the cardboard packing materials
on the floor to protect it).
4. Attach the 3 legs (A) to the 3 adjustable joints (C) with 3 sets
of nuts and bolts that can be found in a bag in the box. Then
attach these on the insert with the aid of 3 nuts (B) M8. The
bolts and washers have already been secured to the bottom
of the stove. Adjust the joints to attain the desired height.
5. Mount the heat shield (fig. 4A) on the bottom of the stove
by using 1 nut M6.
6. Raise the burn chamber.
7. Final adjustment of the legs should only be done after trial
installation of the insert. The bracket (D) should be placed
underneath the screwheads, both to protect the foundation,
and to prevent the insert from being displaced. Final
adjustment is done with the M10x35 mm screws that are
attached to the adjustable joints.
8. Reinstall all parts that were removed to make the handling
of the stove easier.
Ash moulding/log retainer (fig. 6)
Put the ash moulding in place in the slot at the bottom of the
base plate.
3.7 Connection to chimney
• Do a trial assembly of the insert prior to making a hole in the
chimney. Se (fig. 1) for product measurements. Be aware of
the need of a larger distance between the product and the
wall if you want to open the door 90
• The insert may be mounted with a 175 mm dia. flue pipe
internally in the chimney collar and 200 mm dia. flue pipe
externally. This shall be 2.3 mm thick - enamelled.
• The flue pipe bend should be assembled directly onto the
insert and should be able to be turned through 360 0 .
• Adjust the length of the flue pipe with an 40 mm overlap
both in the flue bend and the chimney collar.
• Lead the adjusted flue pipe into the chimney collar. Fasten
it, and then pull the pipe back into the flue bend. (Use the
enclosed gasket cord.)
• Place the insert in its final position. Use furnace cement (or
gasket cord) to place the flue bend in the chimney collar of
the insert.
• The flue pipe must be fastened to the forward edge of the
chimney collar with a M6 self-threading screw (A). Use a 5.5
mm dia. drill and make a hole in the flue pipe for the screw.
Note! It is of prime importance that the joint is completely
airtight. Leaks can lead to malfunction.
3.8 Checking the functions (fig. 7)
When the insert has been put in place, always check the function
controls. These should move easily and work satisfactorily. The
loose handle may be used when the fireplace is warm.
