4.3 Application
CAUTION
Improper molding or application
Injuries or damage to the brace due to overloading of the material and
improper fit of the brace due to breakage of load-bearing components
► Do not make any improper changes to the brace.
► Always apply the brace according to the information in the instructions.
CAUTION
Incorrect or excessively tight application
Risk of local pressure and constriction of blood vessels and nerves due to
improper or excessively tight application
► Ensure that the product is applied properly and fits correctly.
CAUTION
Incorrect use of the cooling elements
Local freezing due to direct contact with the skin
► Do not use the cooling elements directly on the skin.
1) For application, completely open all hook-and-loop closures and position
the foot in the middle of the brace (see fig. 1).
2) Optional: Apply the textile pads (see fig. 4) or the cooling elements
directly to the side elements.
3) Position the side elements medially and laterally on the ankle joints and
close the lower hook-and-loop closure (see fig. 2).
4) Fasten the upper hook-and-loop closure (see fig. 3).
5) If necessary, adjust the lower hook-and-loop closure so the brace fits
well.
6) Ensure that the brace fits tightly without constriction.
Cooling elements
During the acute phase, patients can use the cooling elements for cooling as
long as this is comfortable for them. Otherwise use the textile pads.
► Charge the cooling elements in the freezing compartment of a refrigera­
tor for at least 6 hours (overnight if possible, no colder than -18 °C).
