The heated underblanket is equipped with the BEURER SAFETY SYSTEM (BSS). This electronic sensor mechanism
protects the entire surface of the appliance against overheating by switching it off automatically in the event of
a fault.
Please note that the heated underblanket can not longer be used in this case for safety reasons.
How to use the heated underblanket
Spread the heated underblanket out flat on your mattress, beginning with the
bottom end. Then place your undersheet on the bed as usual, so that the
heated underblanket is between the mattress and sheet. Make sure that
the heated underblanket always lies flat and does not become rucked up or
creased during use. Check its position when making the bed and never switch
it on unless it is spread out flat.
We strongly recommend that you switch on the heated blanket approx. 40 minutes before going to bed (UB
30, 33, 34, 53, 55 and 70) and cover it with the bedclothes to prevent the heat from escaping. The UB 75
model is equipped with a rapid heating mechanism which shortens the warm-up time to approx. 15 min.
If there is a technical fault and the electric bed is automatically switched off by the Beurer Safety System (BSS),
the signal lamp will not go on even if the bed is switched on.
Caution: The electronic parts in the switch cause the switch to be slightly heated when the electric bed
is in use. The switch should never be placed on the bed or be covered by blankets, cushions or similar objects.

Temperature selection

The quickest way to warm up the underblanket is to switch it to the highest setting first. You can then turn it down
to setting 1 or 2 later on as required. In the case of models UB 30, 33, 34, 53 and 55 we recommend setting 1 if

you wish to leave the heating on during the night.
UB 70 and UB 75 are equipped with a sliding switch with 6 adjustable temperature settings. The quickest way to
warm up the underblanket is to switch it to the highest setting first (setting 6). Settings 1 - 3 are especially suitable
for night-time use.

2 = Medium heat
2 = Maximum heat
3 = Maximum heat

Additional note on UB 55
In the UB 55 model, you also have the option of heating the foot of the bed only. For this reason,
it is important to position the underblanket correctly on the bed, with the feeder cable outlet
roughly at the level of your shoulders or neck (see diagram).
Automatic cut-out UB 53, UB 70, UB 75
The electric beds UB 70, 75 can be set to switch off after 2, 6, 9 or 12 hours by using the second sliding switch
( ). The electric bed UB 53 switches off automatically after 90 minutes. While the electric bed is heated, the red
lamp on the switch is on. Once the selected switch-off time has lapsed, the electric bed stops heating and the red
lamp starts to flash. In order to re-heat the electric bed, first set the switch to position "0" for 5 seconds (off) and
then select the desired temperature setting.
If the electric bed is no longer in use after it has been switched off (by the timer), it should be manually switched
off (setting "0") or the plug should be removed from the socket.
Cleaning and caring for your underblanket
Before cleaning the underblanket, always remove the plug from the socket. Minor stains can be removed with a
cloth or damp sponge, together with a little mild detergent if necessary. Please note that the heated underblanket
must not be dry cleaned.
In case of heavier soiling, the heated underblanket can be washed by hand at 30°C using a mild liquid detergent
(dosage according to manufacturer's directions). It is advisable to clean the underblanket in the shower or bath
tub. Remember that the heated underblanket is an electrical appliance, and make sure that the switch does
not come into contact with water.
To make washing easier, fold the underblanket to a manageable size, then place it in the prepared detergent
solution and squeeze out the water afterwards by pressing down with the palms of your hands. To rinse the
underblanket, repeat the same procedure several times with clear water. After washing, squeeze out the moisture
once again with the palms of your hands. The underblanket must not be wrung out, spun or tumble-dried, nor
should it be put through a mangle or ironed. Under no circumstances should the underblanket be switched
on for drying purposes.
To dry the underblanket, hang it over a sturdy washing line or pole. Do not fasten it with pegs, etc. The underblanket
must not be used again until it is completely dry.
Additional note on UB 70, 75 for cleaning
Before washing the underblanket, disconnect the plug-in connector and with it the switch.
To release the plug-in connector, pull out the feeder cable (see diagram).
Now wash the underblanket as described above. Do not connect the feeder cable and switch
until the plug-in connector and heated underblanket are completely dry.

Protective covers

To protect the underblanket, a white cotton cover is also available from Beurer (size 80 x 150 cm, art. no. 160.100).
A moisture-proof protective cover is also available for incontinence sufferers (size 80 x 150 cm, art. no. 160.101).
The protective covers can be obtained from specialist retailers or directly from the Beurer customer service
