12. STARTING.
To kickoff a Bombas Saci Controls Fire Fighting Equipment proceed as follows.
The selectors of all pumps have to be in the "O" (off) position. Open fully the floodgate intake valve while maintaining the drive
valves of each pump closed. Proceed to fill completely the intake collector and circuit and the bodies of the pumps.
It must be checked that the pumps start working properly and that the sealing device (mechanical seal) is well lubricated.
Dry operation causes irreparable damage to the mechanical seal.
Feeding voltage to the equipment. Make sure it matches the specified voltage for the given equipment.
Proceed to kickoff the jockey pump in manual function (This cross-check will be carried out after connecting the pump with the
corresponding selector located on the electric panel, in manual position for UNE regulations, with a rapid sequence of on and off) to
check that it is the correct sense of the pump rotation (turn). The same is done with the main electrical pumps bearing in mind that
the shut-down must be made with the shut-down push button. If the rotation of any of the pumps was opposite, reverse any two
phase wires between themselves for the pump that doesn't turn correctly, after having isolated the equipment from the feeding
network.
Connecting the Jockey pump in Automatic (AUT.) position keeping the main pumps' selectors "0" position, the Jockey pump will
kickoff (if the installation is empty) and the LED for the working Jockey pump will be lit. Proceed to evacuation, using the evacuation
device (if equipped) or with the priming plug, and in turn open slowly the pump's drive valve to its maximum opening. The pump
will keep on working up to fill the whole installation and in case that there is no water consumption the pressure will be increasing
until reaching the off pressure that will cause the shut-down of the pump. In fact it is mandatory to check the motor's energy
consumption comparing it the one indicated in the features plate ("A").
Adjust the pressure switches to the desired kickoff and locking pressures (point No. 10), in case the equipment incorporates more
than 1 pump each pressure switch has to have an increased differential.
While the electro-pump is operating, cross-check the feeding voltage at the electric panel's lugs, the voltage entry must not differ
more than +/-5 % from the voltage rating value.
Once the entire network is pressurized, place the selectors of the main pumps in automatic functioning position (AUT.), and will keep
the equipment in alert mode.
In case the test collector is not installed proceed to the opening of a water exit point of the drive and later use the locking button for
locking.

13. PRECAUTIONS.
Warning! Diesel engines can achieve high temperatures, especially in the vent. Be equipped with
required clothing and personal protective equipment.
