To InSTall:
1. rESTorE PoWEr, if necessary to determine required voltage.
2. Measure voltage, L-N, to determine the system voltage (refer to Table 1). System voltage must
not continuously exceed the specified nominal RMS voltage of the SPD to be installed by more
than 10%.
3. Turn oFF PoWEr.
4. Mount the High Current SPD Panel as close as possible to the circuit breaker panel using the 4
holes in the back of the panel. Use 1/4" (.64 cm) to 5/16" (.80 cm) bolts for mounting. Connection
lead length between the SPD panel and circuit breaker box should be minimal for best protection.
The location should also permit good visibility of the panel front door to properly view the SPD
protection Status Display.
5. Remove the circuit breaker panel cover and determine the breaker panel wiring entry point relative
to chosen location of the SPD panel.
noTE: Since the SPD panel has an overlapping swinging door, installation should allow at least 1"
(2.54 cm) of clearance from the edge of the circuit breaker panel cover.
6. Cut holes for conduit in panel using approved metal cutting tools. Prevent any metallic filings from
remaining inside the panel. If any metallic filings enter panel, care must be exercised to remove
them using a vacuum device or other tools, as required.
7. The High Current SPD Panel may be connected using rigid conduit to a drilled hole in the panel,
keeping conduit length to a minimum.
8. If using conduit, open SPD panel cover and connect flexible or rigid conduit between circuit
breaker box and the 3 Phase SPD panel using the shortest route possible.
noTE: Figure 1 shows the typical wiring for a circuit breaker connection to the High Current SPD
Panel. Wiring may enter the SPD panel from any side.
