Troubleshooting
If t he P olaris c leaner r egularly d isplays t he f ollowing
actions, adjustments may be necessary to restore
performance. R efer t o e xploded p arts d iagram f or p art
references.
Action:
P olaris does not clean the
entire pool or runs slowly.
Solution: 1. V erify t hat t he p ressure r elief v alve i s
releasing water. If it is not, clean or
backwash the pool filter.
2. C heck the filter screen in the quick
disconnect and clean if necessary.
3. V erify t hat t he f loat h ose i s t he p roper
length.
4. R emove the surface module top.
With t he P olaris o perating, v erify t hat
the r andomizer t ube i s m oving b ack
and forth.
If it is not moving: Turn off
pump, d isconnect h oses, l ook i nto
the m echanism a nd l ocate t he f ilter
connector inside the randomizer
tube. If it is covered with debris
or algae, remove the connector
chamber, c ylinder, a nd p iston. P ull
out t he r andomizer t ube a nd c lean
the f ilter c onnector. I f t he c onnector
is clean, replace the piston.
If it is moving: Watch the
randomizer b all i n t he m echanism.
If i t d oes n ot m ove w ithin 2 m inutes,
replace the randomizer tube and
piston.
5. V erify that the water pressure is
between 5 and 10 psi. A pressure
tester (part #6-113-00) is available
through y our p articipating P olaris
dealer.
Action:
Surface module dives under the
water or leans to one side.
Solution: 1. S traighten twisted hoses.
2. L ift s urface m odule o ut o f t he w ater,
empty it and then shake it. If water
is s till h eard i nside, r emove t he t op,
pull o ut t he d rain p lug a ssembly a nd
drain the module.
3. A djust t he p ressure r elief v alve u ntil
the surface module levels off.
4. V erify that the water pressure is
between 5 and 10 psi.
A pressure tester (part
#6-113-00) is available from an
authorized Polaris dealer.
Action:
T he float hose remains coiled.
Solution: 1. S ee "Polaris does not clean entire
pool."
2. L ay t he f loat h ose o ut s traight i n t he
sun to remove the coils.
Action:
S urface module moves too fast.
Solution: 1. A djust t he p ressure r elief v alve u ntil
the surface module slows down.
2. 165/Super Turtle only: Remove
one of the eyeball regulators and
readjust the pressure relief valve if
necessary.
3. V erify that the water pressure is
between 5 and 10 psi.
Action:
Bag does not stay on the
pool floor.
Solution: 1. Verify t hat t he b ag h as b een i nstalled
correctly.
2. Check f or a ir b ubbles a round t he j et
body assembly. This may indicate
air in the plumbing lines.
