WHITE GAS INFORMATION
MSR recommends that you use MSR White Gas. It is the highest quality fuel available for your stove.
Other white gas brands include Coleman®, Crown®, and CampLite®. The fuel chart below is a guide
to help you find white gas when traveling internationally. If you have difficulty finding white gas in
backpacking or sporting goods stores, try gas stations, hardware stores or general merchandise/drug
stores. Unleaded auto gas may be used in your stove. However, additives in this fuel lead to rapid
stove clogging and frequent fuel line cleanings are required. Do not use leaded fuels.

INSERTING PUMP INTO FUEL BOTTLE
1. IMPORTANT! O-rings and Pump Seal are extremely critical for safe operation of your stove.
Before using your stove, ensure that O-rings and Pump Seal are present, in good condition, and
free of damage and wear.
2. Uncap the Fuel Bottle by turning the cap counterclockwise. Pull cap to remove. Fill with white gas.
IMPORTANT! Never fill beyond Fill Line that is marked on fuel bottle. See Illustration 1.
3. Screw the pump snugly into the Fuel Bottle.
4. Firmly close the pump Control Valve (A).
5. Pump the Plunger (G) 15-20 strokes. Note: If the
Fuel Bottle is not full, more pump strokes are required. For example, when half-full, about 40-55
strokes are required. In general, pump until firm resistance is felt.
6. IMPORTANT! Always check for leaking fuel. Check for leaks near every seal, including the Pump
Seal, Fuel Tube O-ring, Control Valve area, and Pump Plunger. If leaking fuel is found, DO NOT USE
STOVE. See TROUBLESHOOTING or send it to your MSR retailer or MSR Product Service Center for
repairs.
ATTACHING THE SIMMERLITE STOVE TO THE PUMP
1. Lubricate the end of the Fuel Line (T) with saliva or oil.
2. Insert the Fuel Line into the pump. See Illustration 2.
3. Snap the Catch Arm (S) securely into the slot on the pump. See Illustration 3.
4. Rotate Pot Supports (N) to open position. See Illustration 4.
5. Place the stove onto the Heat Reflector. See illustration 5.
OPERATING THE SIMMERLITE STOVE
PREHEATING THE STOVE
The stove must be preheated or "primed" in order to operate properly. The SimmerLite stove was
designed to be preheated at the Burner Head. Insufficient preheating may result in flare-ups or poor
performance.
1. Open the Control Valve (approx. 1.5 turns) so that fuel wets the entire Burner Head (Z), then
immediately close the Control Valve. Do not overfill the Burner Head with fuel. Overfilling may result
in fuel spilling on the ground and a larger priming flame than expected. Note: Check that you have
enough fuel in the Burner Head before lighting. Low fuel bottle pressure or fewer valve turns will
not release enough fuel into the Burner Head, instead the fuel will flow into the Overflow Pan (Q).
2. IMPORTANT! Check for leaking fuel. Carefully evaluate the Fuel Bottle, Pump, and Fuel Line for
leaking fuel. If leaking fuel is found, DO NOT USE STOVE. See TROUBLESHOOTING.
