ImportaNt: as health & safety coordinator you have to ensure, both at regular inter-
vals and before the necessity arises, that there are no more high altitude
workers present than the rescue capacity allows for.
Stationary evacuation equipment adapted for use in specific descent heights, for example
in wind turbines, has the ResQ DD´s relevant lanyard length printed on the outside of
the red box. When using mobile equipment it is extremely important to ensure that the
lanyard length is suitable for the task.
In the event of repeated descents, shuttle descents with high loads and/or from high
altitudes the operator/user is recommended to maintain an active check on and control
the descent speed by holding, and if necessary gently squeezing the lanyard feed during
the entire operation. During the final descent the operator/user ought always to check
the operation by having access to the lanyard feed.
In the case of uncertainty - allow the lanyard feed to run freely through the hand. use
gloves!
