instructions:
1.
Carefully disconnect the spark plug wire and keep it away

Carefully attach the spark plug wire to the
grounding post, if provided.
Disconnect the battery at the negative ter inal first, if the
engine is equipped with a D.C. electric starter.
Turn off all the engine switches.
Re ove the ignition key, if provided.

Re ove the spark plug.
3.
Install 1 oz. (30 l) of clean engine oil into the spark plug
hole.
4.
Cover the spark plug hole with a rag to prevent fuel fro
spraying fro
the spark plug hole when the starter rope is
pulled.
NOTE: For engines equipped with a recoil starter, proceed
to Step 5. For engines equipped with electric starters,
proceed to Step 6.
5.
Grasp the starter cord handle:
Pull the starter cord handle out slowly using a
full ar
Repeat once. This will distribute the oil
throughout the cylinder to prevent corrosion
during storage.
Proceed to Step 7.
6.
Push starter button or turn ignition switch key to "START"
position. I
ediately release the starter button or turn
the ignition switch key to the "OFF" position. This will
distribute the oil throughout the cylinder to prevent
corrosion during storage.
7.
Re ove rag fro spark plug hole and install the spark plug.
8.
Carefully disconnect the spark plug wire fro
grounding post, if provided.
9.
Connect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.

Change the oil if NOT changed within the last 3
Checking and Changing the Oil earlier in this section.

Belt Replacement

It
ay be necessary to replace the drive belt after
hours of usage. In this case, you will find the part nu ber
listed in the Replace ent Parts section of this
these instructions to co plete the drive belt replace ent:
1.
Re ove the power base front cover by re oving the four
hex screws that secure it. Refer to Figure 6-10.

3.
Unplug the wiring harness fro
by wiggling and pulling the harness connectors off of the
safety switch on the power base front cover. See the inset
in Figure 6-10.
4.
Using a larger adjustable wrench, or a 1" wrench, to hold
the trans ission pulley fro
securing that pulley. Pull the front half of the trans ission
pulley off fully exposing the drive belt. See Figure 6-11.
5.
Replace the belt and reasse ble the pulley in the reverse
order in which it was re oved.
6.
Holding the trans ission pulley with the larger wrench,
torque the trans ission pulley to 15-19 ft. lbs.

Reinstall the wiring harness to the safety switch on the
power base front cover by plugging it in.
8.
Reinstall the power base front cover by pivoting it up into
place and securing with four hex bolts previously re oved.
9.
Adjust the drive cable if needed. See Drive Cable
