CHAPTER 4
– USING THE MACHINE

1. Before using the machine

Always check the following points
before turning the machine on:
(1)Check the working area
• If you find a hindrance whilst us-
ing the machine, locate it and have
it removed.
(2)Inspecting the machine
o Check that components are not
deformed, damaged or dangerous.
o Check transmission oil.
o Be sure to adjust the tension of
the crawlers and check the crawlers
for cracks.
o Check that mounting bolts of the
crawlers are well tightened.
o Check the machine in its whole
and make sure there are no damaged
parts or loose bolts.
o Make sure there are no engine oil
leaks.
o Check fuel level and make sure
there are no leaks and that the fuel
pipe is not damaged.
o Make sure air filter is clean.
o Check that engine muffler and
other heated parts are free of debris
and dirt.
o Check the electrical system and
make sure contacts are well fixed.
(3)Using the levers
o Check levers

(4)Starting the engine

o Make sure the engine doesn't
make strange noises.
o Check the colour of the exhaust
smoke
o Check that each lever works
properly.
2. Check fuel level and refuel
o Refer to engine's "Use and Main-
tenance" handbook
3. Switching on the engine
WARNING
o For safety reasons, check the
area around the machine before
switching the engine on. Do not
switch on if there are animals or
persons close by.
CAUTION
o Make sure you have carried
out the requested maintenance
operations before and after hav-
ing used the machine. Check
clutch lever and other devices
used during operation and adjust
them if necessary so as to ensure
its proper operation.
o Whilst machine is hot, release
the clutch lever so that parking
brake gets engaged.
