Choosing an Upgrade Option

Installing a U-DTC-LXM Upgrade Kit transforms a
Rain Bird ESP-LX Modular Controller into an IQ™
Central Control System, LXM-DTC Satellite
Controller. The Rain Bird IQ Central Control System
software application can be used remotely (using a
modem) or locally (using a direct connection) to
program, operate, and monitor Satellite Controllers.
A variety of communications options are available for
communicating with an LXM-DTC Satellite. Options
include telephone, direct cable connection, or a
variety of external modem devices, including cellular,
radio, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, fiber-optic, and other choices.
U-DTC-LXM-PR (Phone+RS232) Upgrade Kit
The -PR Upgrade Kit includes a Communication
Interface Cartridge with an integrated POTS (plain-
old-telephone system) modem for connecting via
standard phone lines. The cartridge also includes an
RS232 serial port to connect the DTC-LXM to a
variety of external modems, or to connect directly to
the IQ Central Computer via a direct connect cable.

U-DTC-LXM-R (RS232) Upgrade Kit
The -R Upgrade Kit includes a Communication
Interface Cartridge with one RS232 serial port (internal
modem not included).
IQ-DTC-RJ11 Phone Cable
The U-DTC-LXM-PR Upgrade Kit includes an IQ-DTC-
RJ11 Phone Communication Cable to connect the
DTC-LXM-PR internal phone modem to a modular
phone outlet.
IQ-DTC-EMC External Modem Cable
The U-DTC-LXM-PR and -R Upgrade Kits include an
IQ-DTC-EMC External Modem Cable (Beige) to
connect the cartridge to an external modem.
IQ-DTC-DCC Direct-Connect Communication Cable
The Rain Bird IQ-CD Central Control Software package
includes an IQ-DTC-DCC Direct Connect Cable
(Black) for direct cable communication between the
IQ Central Computer and an LXM-DTC Satellite. A
USB-to-serial adapter (not included) can also be used
to connect the IQ-DTC-DCC Direct Connect
Communication Cable to a PC equipped with USB 1.X
or USB 2.0 capability. Contact Rain Bird for adapter
