Example of braking device
Horizontal installation
The piston rod is clamped if there is a
pressure failure. The clamping is con
trolled separately.
If differential forces are small (with open
clamping), the piston rod can move.
The cylinder can be pressurised and ex
hausted on both sides.
1) The switching examples satisfy max. PLd/cat 3 for the safety requirement Interrup−
tion of a dangerous movement and dangerous starting up from normal position.
2) Applies only if the movement of the piston rod creates no risk due to the differential
area.
3) Applies only if the equilibrium of forces can be set safely.
