5. Cleaning

l Use by more than one mother without
adequate reprocessing may be a health
risk and could cause cross-contamination.
l If there is no milk, condensation or visible
residues in the tubing, there is no need for
automated cleaning and disinfection or
sterilisation. Medela recommends that the
tubing is disposed of and replaced after
max. 6 months.
If there is milk, condensation or visible resi-
dues in the tubing, dispose of and replace.
Caution
l Only use drinking-quality water for clean-
ing.
Note
l Only sterilise clean and intact parts. Do
not stack parts on top of one another.
To avoid damage, do not apply external
pressure.
5.8 Reusable pump set – Auto-
mated cleaning and disinfection

If not done yet, disassemble the re-
usable pump set into its individual parts
(bottle, breast shield, connector, valve
head, valve membrane, membrane
cap, protective membrane and tubing).
Gently remove the white membrane
from the yellow valve head.
Check all parts for damage.
Replace damaged or worn parts.
