4 Setting
The instrument must first be set before it can be used.
Once it has been set correctly this only has to be done again
when the battery is replaced.
Connect the instrument as shown in the wiring diagram.
4.1 Checking the current measurement function
Switch the instrument on (there is no ON/OFF switch on the
instrument).
'8.8.8.' appears in the display for a few sec-
onds. This is a self test.
After this the voltage (V) is displayed (for
example 13.8 V).

Press the '>' button and hold this down for
about 2 seconds.
The current will now be displayed.
A charging current is shown as positive
(no sign in the display).
A discharging current is shown as negative
('-' sign in the display).
If the polarity of the current is not correct
check that the wires to the shunt resistance
have been connected correctly. See the
wiring diagram, page 86.
Connect the black (4) and the green (5)
wires to each other at the position of the
shunt resistance.
The instrument should now show about 0 A.
