IGNITION AND REGULATION

1 ) Make certain that the nozzle has the proper characteristics (i.e. flow and spray angle) for the furnace. lf not
replace with a suitable one.
2) Make certain that there is fuel in the tank and that it appears, at least visibly, suited for the burner.
3) Make certain that there is water in the boiler and that the system gate valves are open.
4) Make absolutely certain that the combustion by-products can be eliminated freely (that the boiler gate and flue
are open).
5) Make certain that the line voltage corresponds to the voltage required by the burner and that the connections
for the electrical motors and resistances have been properly arranged for the available power supply.
Make certain that all electrical connections performed on site have been correctly carried out according to the
Baltur wiring diagram.
6) Make certain that the combustion head extends as far into the furnace as required by the manufacturer of the
boiler. Make certain that the air regulation device on the combustion head is set in the position considered
suitable for the fuel flow requested (the air flow space between the disk and the head must be relatively closed
when the fuel flow is low; on the other hand, with a rather high capacity nozzle, the air flow space between the
disk and the head must be relatively open) - see the chapter entitled "Regulating the combustion head".
7) Remove the lid covering the rotating disk on the modulation motor. This is the place where the adjustable
screws controlling air and fuel flow are regulated.
8) Set the two modulation switches to "MIN" (minimum) and "MAN" (manual).
9) Start up the auxiliary fuel feed circuit and check that it operates properly. Adjust the pressure to approximately
1 bar.
10) Remove the plug found at the point where the vacuum-gauge' is attached to the pump. Open the gate located
on the fuel inlet pipe slightly. Wait until the fuel coming out of the hole shows no signs of air bubbles. Then
close the gate once more.
11) lnsert a manometer (approximately 3 bar full scale) into the housing arranged on the pump for fitting of the
vacuum-qauge. ge. This makes it possible to check the pressure of the fuel arriving at the burner pump.
Insert a manometer (approximately 30 bar full scale) into the housing arranged on the pump for fitting of the
manometer. This makes it possible to check the pump operating pressure. lnsert a manometer (approximately
15 bar full scale) into the special attachment on the return pressure regulator (see diagram no. 0002900900).
This makes it possible to check the return pressure.
12) At this point open all the gates and any other cut-off devices located on the fuel line.
13) Set the switch on the control panel to "0" (ON) and power the electrical line for the burner. Manually press the
switch to make certain that the motor fan rotates in the correct direction; if necessary switch the position of the
two wires of the main line in order to invert rotation.
14) Start up the burner pump by manually pressing the switch and keeping it pressed until the operating pressure
(20÷21 bar) can be read on the pump manometer. This reading confirms that the circuit has been filled.
15) Trip the general circuit breaker to power the control box. lf the thermostats or pressure switches (safety and
boiler) are closed the control box programmer is activated. Following the set program, this causes the burner
component devices to cut in. The unit is thus turned on as described in the chapter entitled "Description of
operation.
16) When the burner is operating at "minimum", the air flow is regulated as needed to ensure good combustion.
This is done by unscrewing, or further screwing down, the regulation screws at the point where they come into
contact with the lever moving the combustion air flow gate. When operating at minimum, it is best for the air
flow to be somewhat scarce so as to ensure perfect ignition, even under the most difficult conditions.
17) After having regulated the air flow for "minimum" operation, set the modulation switches to "MAN' (manual)
and "MAX' (maximum).
