For correct storage, the filter should be stored in an
environment free of organic vapours, at a temperature of
between +5°C and +30°C.
For correct maintenance, we invite the user to:
- always clean the filter after use, by rinsing it immediately
in cleansing liquid.
For cleaning, the user is invited to follow the instructions
below:
- never carry out cleaning operations in the sunshine;
- use absorbent cloth or soft scratch-proof fabric to dry the
filter;
- use warm water and neutral soap, or any normal
detergent for optical use;
- never use abrasive or strongly alkaline detergents;
- WARNING: NEVER USE SOL VENTS OR ORGANIC
LIQUIDS SUCH AS BENZINS OR ALCOHOL!
The welding filter, with shade number 12, has been designed
to offer adequate protection (when associated with face
protections for welding or manual welding shields, fitted with
holders for filters sized 108 x 51mm) to welding operators
carrying out arc welding operations or related activities,
under the conditions as specified in the following table taken
from table 1 of EN 169:1992.
Type of welding
Coated electrodes
Arc welding protected by inert gas (MIG) on heavy metals
Arc welding protected by inert gas (MIG) on light metals
Arc welding protected by non-inert gas (MAG)
Arc welding in an inert atmosphere using a tungsten
electrode (TIG) on all metals/alloys
Air arc cutting
Plasma jet cutting
Microplasma arc welding
For a shade number corresponding to the working
conditions specified above, protection in the ultraviolet and
infrared ranges have been appropriately determined in the
following table:

Using a higher shade number will not ensure greater
protection; it could, on the other hand, force the operator to
stay too close to the radiation source and inhale noxious
fumes.
If using the filter creates a feeling of discomfort it is
necessary to check the working conditions and the eyesight
of the operator.
For work carried out in the open air under strong natural light,
it is possible to use a protective filter with the next higher
shade number.
Since the filter is made of hardened adiactinic glass, it
guarantees adequate protection against accidental impact.
The filter must withstand an impact strength comparable to,
for example, that of a fall from the height of one metre onto a
hard, irregular floor or with that of accidental impact with
sharp edges or objects caused by the user turning the head
to the side in an abrupt movement. It can be used in
combination with appropriate covers and rear lenses with
the same dimensions. The filter alone or in combination with
covers or rear lenses must be such as to allow the complete
face protection for welding or the complete associated
manual welding shield to pass the impact strength (falling
weight) test. For this purpose we recommend that at least
the rear lenses be in plastic shock-proof material, preferably
polycarbonate.
To replace the filter, the covers and the rear lenses, see the
instructions supplied by the manufacturer of the face
protection for welding or associated manual welding shields.
When carrying out the replacements the operator should
have clean hands or wear non-abrasive cloves.
To prevent damage during transport and storage, we

If the above instructions for cleaning are followed, the filter
will not be subjected to excessive wear when used under
normal conditions. REPLACE THE FIL TER IF OBVIOUS
PERMANENT DAMAGE APPEARS ON THE SURFACE,
SUCH AS SCRATCHES, CRACKS OR WELDING
MATERIAL DEPOSITS. THE FILTER AND ANY COVERS
OR REAR LENSES SHOULD ALSO BE REPLACED
AFTER UNDERGOING A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT.
The filter carries a marking consisting of the following
