11. Use a sling through the upper bearing housing window and
remove the cap screws that were holding the rotating
assembly in place. Remove the rotating assembly.
12. Remove the bearing cover from the lower bearing housing.
13. Remove the snap ring and washer from the end of the shaft.
14. Use a wheel puller to remove the bearing housing and the
bearing from the pump shaft.
15. Remove the bearing, lip seal, and seal seat from the bearing
housing. Clean the bearing housing.
16. Remove the seal head from the shaft sleeve.
17. Clean the shaft sleeve. If worn or deeply scored, it should be
replaced.
18. Replace new lip seal and seal seat in the bearing housing.
19. Clean the housing wear rings and the impeller wear rings.
20. When installing the seal head on the shaft sleeve, lubricate
the seal elastomer with liquid soap and also the shaft sleeve.
Install the spring and seal head onto the shaft sleeve, making
sure the seal head moves back and forth on the shaft sleeve.
21. When reinstalling the bearing housing, take care not to strike
the seal seat against the shaft. Make sure you have the
slinger in the open window of the bearing housing when
sliding the bearing housing onto the shaft.
22. Use a bearing warmer to heat the inner race of the bearing to
install on the shaft end. Heat the inner race of the bearing to
200 °F (93 °C). Slide the bearing onto the shaft. Install the
washer and snap ring.
23. Use Polyurea grease to hand-pack the bearing after the
bearing cools.
24. Install the bearing cover.
25. Remove the bearing housing from the drive end.
26. Remove the coupling half.
27. Remove the bearing cover, drive end.
28. Measure from the inner race of the bearing to the end of shaft.
This will tell you where the new bearing will sit on the shaft.
29. Use the same steps as above on removing and cleaning of the
bearing housing.
After the rotating assembly is completely reassembled and
coupling half is on shaft:
30. Make sure the upper and lower housings are clean.
31. Install the rotating assembly back into the lower housing.
32. Use roll pins (or housing wear rings) in lower housing to line
up the same as a standard horizontal pump. When the
rotating assembly is back in the lower housing, install two cap
screws in the upper bearing housing to hold the rotating
assembly in place.
33. In the bearing housing, make sure the 1/2 in. holes that are
threaded are facing to the back.
34. Put the two 3/4 in. threaded rods in the lower housing so the
upper housing can be slid into place. Make sure to grease the
o-rings on the bearing housings so the upper housing does
not pinch the o-rings.
35. Install the roll pins. Install all the housing cap screws and
tighten.
36. Install the cap screws on the lower bearing housing first and
tighten.
37. Install the cap screws on the upper bearing housing and
tighten.
38. Install the recirculation lines.
39. Reassemble the grid assembly using Polyurea grease on
coupling halves.
40. Install the coupling guard on the motor bracket.
41. Install the support piece (1). If shims were removed put them
back in the same location.
42. Install support piece (2).
