Electric installation

Check whether the voltage, as mentioned on the engine plate,
is in accordance with the ship's power supply.
Battery
Install a starter battery with a capacity of approx. 1 Ah - 12V.
(e.g. a Vetus maintenance free marine battery of 1 Ah.)
For 2V, 2 starter batteries of approx. 90 Ah - 12V in series
connections. (e.g. 2 pcs. Vetus maintenance free marine bat-
teries 90 Ah).
Position the batteries as closely as possible to the anchor
windlass; the main circuit wires can be kept short and which
causes the voltage drop to be low.
The place in which the batteries are installed should be dry
and
well ventilated.
Main circuit wires
The minimum cross section is 25 mm
For 2 V minimum 10-mm
2
(AWG 8).
The voltage drop between the battery and the anchor windlass
should not exceed 5 percent of the supply voltage.
Consult the table on page 27 when choosing the proper cross
section.
A main switch and a fuse are to be inserted into the plus cable.
A Vetus battery switch is excellently suited for the job. The
fuse protects the anchor windlass against overload as well as
the ship's supply system against short circuits.
A recommended fuse is the Vetus 'slow blow' fuse.
- 12 V anchor windlass: 80 A
- 2 V anchor windlass: 0 A

Solenoid switch
The anchor windlass motor is already fitted with 2 built-in sole-
noid switches (relay).
Connect the anchor windlass motor as shown in the diagram
on page 26.
Connect the motor as indicated in the diagram on page 26.
Note!
The two motor relays must never be switched on at the same
time. There is a danger of this occurring when two separate
switches (e.g. AFSTFR/ AFSTFG) are used for hauling in and
letting go. If that is the case, 2 extra relays should be installed.
See diagram.
Remote control
All Vetus remote controls for anchor windlasses can be used in
combination with the Napoleon anchor windlass.
For example: AWPANEL, RC2, AFSTFR, AFSTFG, RECON.
Vetus chain counters are specially designed for use in combina-
tion with the Napoleon anchor windlass:
CCM : Combined control panel/ chain counter
CCFB : Chain counter
See the separate manual.
