Electrical connection / Commissioning
ATTENTION
 Before connecting the device, be sure that the supply voltage agrees with the
value printed on the name plate.
 Only have the electrical connection performed by certified electricians.
 Ensure that the functional earth (FE) is connected correctly.
Fault-free operation is only guaranteed if the functional earth is connected
properly.
 If faults cannot be rectified, take the device out of operation. Protect the
device from accidentally being started.
NOTICE
UL applications
 For UL applications, use is only permitted in Class 2 circuits in accordance
with the NEC (National Electric Code).
NOTICE
Protective Extra Low Voltage (PELV)
 The device is designed in accordance with safety class III for supply with
PELV (Protective Extra-Low Voltage).
Initial commissioning
The light section sensor is configured via Ethernet with a PC and installed LxSsoft
software before being integrated in the process control.
 Connect voltage supply (connection X1) and Ethernet (connection X2).
 Switch on operating voltage, green LED must illuminate. The sensor display
shows the alignment aid and the status display.
 Set the Ethernet address on the PC (Firewall ports to be opened:
ports 9008 + 5634).
LxS 36 default: IP address 192.168.060.003, net mask 255.255.255.0.
 Install configuration software LxSsoft provided on the supplied CD.
 Configure light section sensor with the configuration software.
