BUILT TO LAST
Description
Campbell Hausfeld pumps are designed
to provide compressed air to power tools
and equipment. These pumps are intend-
ed for mounting on baseplates or on
tanks specifically designed for air com-
pressor service. Never use for any other
purpose than to compress ambient air. If
the intended application requires control
of oil and water condensation, addition-
al filters and equipment must be
installed as appropriate. Installation of a
Campbell Hausfeld pump in a system or
on a tank not suitable for use with these
pumps or any other misuse can result in
severe personal injury or property dam-
age and will void the warranty.
PRESSURIZED LUBRICATION
Some Campbell Hausfeld compressor
pumps have an internal oil pump system
which provides lubrication. The oil pump
draws oil from the crankcase, pumps the
oil through an oil filter (no oil filter on
Quad pumps) and then into the crank-
shaft. The oil comes out of the crankshaft
at the connecting rods and from there
splashes onto the walls of the cylinder
and the bottom of the piston. The oil
reaches the needle bearings at the small
end of the connecting rod by splashing
off the bottom of each piston. The oil
pump only pumps oil when the crank-
shaft rotates in the direction indicated by
the arrow on the flywheel. Dippers on the
connecting rods assure lubrication if the
air compressor runs with improper rota-
tion. A built-in bypass valve on the filter
prevents collapse of the element during
cold starts. The oil pump has protection
against excess pressure (5 to 25 PSI oil
pressure is normal) and primes itself in
most operating conditions.

Safety Guidelines
This manual contains information that
is very important to know and under-
stand. This information is provided for
SAFETY and to PREVENT EQUIPMENT
PROBLEMS. To help recognize this
information, observe the following
symbols.
Danger indicates
an imminently haz-
ardous situation which, if not avoided,
WILL result in death or serious injury.
Warning indicates
a potentially haz-
ardous situation which, if not avoided,
COULD result in death or serious injury.
Caution indicates a
potentially haz-
ardous situation which, if not avoided,
MAY result in minor or moderate injury.
Notice indicates
NOTICE
!
important informa-
tion, that if not followed, may cause
damage to equipment.
Unpacking
After unpacking the unit, inspect care-
fully for any damage that may have
occurred during transit. Make sure to
tighten fittings, bolts, etc., before
putting unit into service.
Do not operate
pump if damaged
during shipping, handling or use.
Damage may result in bursting and
cause injury or property damage.
General Safety
Since the air compressor and other
components (material pump, spray
guns, filters, lubricators, hoses, etc.)
used, make up a high pressure pump-
ing system, the following safety pre-
cautions must be observed at all times:
Cast Iron Series
Breathable Air Warning
This compressor/pump is NOT
equipped and should NOT be used "as
is" to supply breathing quality air. For
any application of air for human con-
sumption, you must fit the air com-
pressor/pump with suitable in-line
safety and alarm equipment. This addi-
tional equipment is necessary to prop-
erly filter and purify the air to meet
minimal specifications for Grade D
breathing as described in Compressed
Gas Association Commodity
Specification G 7.1 - 1966, OSHA 29 CFR
1910. 134, and/or Canadian Standards
Associations (CSA).
DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
IN THE EVENT THE COMPRESSOR IS
USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF BREATH-
ING AIR APPLICATION AND PROPER IN-
LINE SAFETY AND ALARM EQUIPMENT
IS NOT SIMULTANEOUSLY USED,
EXISTING WARRANTIES ARE VOID,
AND CAMPBELL HAUSFELD DISCLAIMS
ANY LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR ANY
LOSS, PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE.
1. Read all manuals included
