• after a short period of wear, the liner causes strong redness in the area of the sealing lips or on the edges
• the user feels pain or numbness.
If any of these indicators exists, change the size of the liner and/or contact Össur.
VOLUME COMPENSATION STOCKINGS
In the case of fluctuations in the volume of the residual limb that do not lead to loss of vacuum in the area of the
sealing lips, you can use special volume stockings to compensate for this volume above the sealing lips. The
volume compensation stocking is available in 3 sizes:

PUTTING ON THE STOCKING
Pull the stocking up over the liner until it is above the sealing lips. Ensure that the attached adhesive edge is flush
with the liner and is positioned above the sealing lips (Fig. 5).
Make sure that the stocking does not have wrinkles. Then put on the prosthesis as usual.
CAUTION! If the stockings cover one or more sealing lips, the vacuum may be lost and the prosthesis may detach
(Fig. 5).

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Please note that the silicone liner and the residual limb need to be washed daily with mild soap. To do so, turn
the silicone liner inside out and clean this side thoroughly with the mild soap; then rinse thoroughly with cold
water and dry off the excess water with a lint-free cloth. Turn the silicone liner back inside in and store it on the
included liner stand.
• The exterior of the liner can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
• The liner must always be stored in its original form on the liner stand that was included in the scope of delivery;
otherwise damage can occur.
• It must be ensured that no foreign bodies, such as grains of sand, carbon fibers or glass (prosthetist work
area), are deposited on the silicone liner surfaces. Often, simply washing the dirty liner is not sufficient since
these foreign objects can migrate into the soft silicone material and thus destroy the liner. In addition, this can
cause significant skin irritation.
• Please note that many shower gels, soaps, bath products, deodorants, perfumes, alcohol sprays, etc. can cause
skin irritations due to fragrances and/or dyes. Please instruct the user that, to prevent any possible skin
problems, these should NOT be used when applying a silicone liner on the residual limb
• When use of the liner is started, increased perspiration on the residual limb may occur. However, this subsides
over the first two weeks. Under these circumstances, the silicone liner and the residual limb should be cleaned
several times a day. It is advisable to request a second silicone liner for daily changing or as a substitute. The
same goes for seasons in which there are high outdoor temperatures. In this case, the entire body – and thus
also the residual limb in the silicone liner – sweat more strongly.
