Install Debris Shield
1. Insert cutting attachment shield (N) between
the outer tube and cutting attachment mounting
plate (O).
2. Fit shims (P) and upper clamp (Q) over the outer
tube and install bolts (R) finger tight.
3. Securely tighten the clamp screw and retaining
nut (S) before tightening bolts (R).Tighten the
bolts to secure the cutting attachment shield to
the mounting plate.
NOTE: Narrow shield holes require bolts to be
threaded forcefully into shield.
4. Attach shield extension (T) to shield (N).

Install Brushcutter Blade
There are three gear case configurations: Type
A, Type B, and Type C (see page 4). Select one
of the following instructions to properly install
a metal blade.
Type A (with notched flange)
1. Turn the unit over so that the gear case output
shaft faces up.
2. Align hole in holder (U) with the notch in the
gear case flange, and then temporarily lock the
output shaft by inserting hex wrench (V) through

both holes.
3. While holding the hex wrench, turn trimmer
head (W) clockwise to remove. Remove the hex

4. Remove trimmer head holder.
5. Install large upper blade holder (X) onto output
shaft (Y).
6. Align the hole in the upper blade holder with the
matching notch in the gear case flange. Tem-
O
porarily lock the output shaft by inserting a hex
wrench through both holes. Hold hex wrench in
place until blade retaining bolt is tightened.

7. Fit blade (Z) over the flange on holder (X).
8. Install large lower blade holder (AA) on the out-
put shaft.
