Fitting the DRD/DRE without a mounting bridge
6. Place the DRD/DRE on the control shaft of the
semi−rotary valve. Make sure here that the square
of the semi−rotary valve sits in the tetrahedral
coupling of the DRD/DRE without being tilted.
7. Fasten the DRD/DRE to the connecting flange of
the semi−rotary valve with 4 corrosion−resistant
screws and circlips.
8. Tighten all the screws in diagonally opposite
sequence. Tightening torque è Technical
specifications
9. Check that the DRD/DRE turns in the required
direction of rotation and whether the process
valve assumes the required position.
If the DRD/DRE does not turn in the required
direction of rotation, please consult the Festo service
department.
To fit the DRD/DRE with a mounting bridge you will
need:
A mounting bridge 9
A coupling aJ.
1. Align the mounting bridge so that its frame
elements face in the direction of the tubing and
the open side of the mounting bridge faces the
semi−rotary valve.
2. Fasten the mounting bridge to the DRD/DRE.
Do not yet tighten the screws.
3. Guide the coupling aJ through the mounting
bridge and into the tetrahedral receptacle on the
underside of the DRD/DRE. Make sure that the
coupling sits in the receptacle without being tilted.
4. Use the mounting bridge and coupling to fasten
the DRD/DRE to the connecting flange of the
semi−rotary valve. Make sure here that the square
of the process valve sits in the coupling without
being tilted.
5. Tighten all the screws in diagonally opposite
sequence. Tightening torque è Technical
specifications
6. Check that the DRD/DRE turns in the required
direction of rotation and whether the semi−rotary
valve assumes the required switching position.
If the DRD/DRE does not turn in the required
direction of rotation, please consult the Festo service
department.

6.2 Fitting pneumatic components

Connect the tubing for the air supply as follows:
DRD (double−acting)
Air supply at connection 2 (A):
The pistons of the semi−rotary drive are pressurised inside and pressed outwards.
The transmission shaft 3 carries out a rotary motion in an anti−clockwise direction.
The 2−way semi−rotary valve (standard version) opens.
Air supply at connection 4 (B):
The pistons of the semi−rotary drive are
pressurised outside and pressed inwards.
The transmission shaft 3 carries out a
rotary motion in a clockwise direction.
The 2−way semi−rotary valve (standard
version) closes.
Using a DRE (single−acting) in a moist and/or dusty environment
Please note
Moisture and dirt particles can penetrate via exhaust port 4 (B) 4 and damage
the product.
· Take preventive measures in accordance with the following table.
Ambient tempe
Remedy
rature
Moist and dusty
Provide an exhaust feedback at exhaust port 4 (B) 4.
Dusty
Screw a silencer (è www.festo.com/catalogue) into the exhaust connec
tion 4 (B).
When a solenoid valve is used:
· Use a solenoid valve with NAMUR port pattern.
· If necessary, please note the instructions and explanations in the operating
instructions for the solenoid valve.

DRE (single−acting)
Pressure drop at connection 2 (A):
The pistons of the semi−rotary drive are
pressed inwards by spring force.
The transmission shaft 3 carries out a
rotary motion in a clockwise direction.
The 2−way semi−rotary valve (standard
version) closes.

Commissioning
Please note
· Make sure that the operating conditions lie within the permitted ranges
(è Technical specifications).
The product is ready for operation as soon as it is fitted and electrically and
pneumatically connected.
· Make sure that a semi−rotary valve fitted to the DRD/DRE can be switched
without hindrance.
· Pressurise the DRD/DRE slowly at first.
7.1 End position setting (only with DRD−/DRE− −O− )
The end position setting serves for optimising the opening or closing reaction of
the connected semi−rotary valve.
Adjustment of the end position is only possible with semi−rotary drive variant
DRD−/DRE− −O− (overtravel, 98°) in sizes 8
Please note
Turning an adjusting screw aC or aD when lock nut aB or aE is tightened can
damage the thread.
· Loosen the lock nut before turning the adjusting screw.
· When you tighten the lock nut, make sure that the adjusting screw is not also
turning.

Please note
The semi−rotary drive is only seal−tight when the lock nuts are tightened.
· Before pressurising the DRD−/DRE− −O− , make sure that the adjusting
screws on both sides of the device are secured with a lock nut (è Fig. 5).
Warning
Danger of injury The adjusting screw for the outer end position aD might be
thrown out when it is unscrewed.
· Exhaust the DRD−/DRE− −O−... before setting the end positions.
Preparations for adjusting the inner end position
1. Remove the protective cap aA from the DRD−/DRE− −O− .
2. Pressurise the DRD−/DRE−...−O briefly at connection 4 (B). The pistons move to
the inner end position.

Setting the inner end position
1. Exhaust the DRD−/DRE− −O− .
2. Loosen the lock nut aB from the adjusting screw aC using a suitable wrench.
3. Turn the adjusting screw aC in order to modify the inner end position.
in a clockwise direction for extending the end position setting
in an anti−clockwise direction for reducing the end position setting
until the connected semi−rotary valve assumes the desired position.
4. Tighten again the lock nut aB on the adjusting screw.
When doing this, make sure that the adjusting screw does not turn.
After extending the inner end position
5. Pressurise the DRD−/DRE− −O− again briefly at connection 4 (B).
The pistons move into the extended inner end position.
6. Exhaust the DRD−/DRE− −O− and repeat steps 2 to 4.
