Recommendation: To eliminate direct access to the valve opening, always connect

a line to both connections (
tubing system.
Traces of residual grease or soap suds may be evident on the product due to the
production process used. Depending on the operating medium used, it may be
necessary to eliminate such residues from the product in order to prevent a reac-
tion or mixture with the medium.
Warning
If a cartridge leaks, operating medium can enter the control circuit and escape,
e.g. on a silencer!
• As a precautionary measure, use an appropriate non-return valve to protect
the control circuit against the ingress of operating medium.
Note
• Installation should only be conducted by qualified personnel.
• Do not weld the pipeline in close proximity. High temperatures can damage
the cartridge inside the product.
– Use of an inappropriate fitting for the pilot air port (
the cartridge inside the valve.
• For the pilot air port only use fittings with the thread GÁ up to a maximum
thread length of 5 mm.
• Clean the proportional media valve as required.
• To protect the valve: Install an appropriate flow control valve before the pilot air
port in order to limit the switching speed (standard nominal flow rate max.
40 l/min.) or use a control valve with a low flow rate. A gradual build-up of the
pilot air supply significantly increases the service life of the integrated cartridge.
1. Check the equipment conditions before installation:
– The piping system is unpressurised and no medium flows in it.
– The lines are clean and the line ends are fitted.
– An additional 3/2-way valve, a flow control valve and an appropriate non-
return valve is built into the supply line of the pilot medium.
2. Screw the valve connections to the line - max. tightening torque 35 Nm.
3. Mount an appropriate fitting on the pilot air port (
max. permissible thread length (max. 5 mm).
4. Connect the supply line of the pilot medium.

Commissioning
Note
• Commissioning should only be conducted by qualified personnel.
Warning
Risk of crushing inside the valve!
If the valve is charged with pilot pressure, the tube in the cartridge closes the
valve. Fingers can be crushed.
• Do not reach inside the valve.
• Connect lines to both connections (
the inside of the valve.
• Only operate fully assembled valves.
Note
When incompressible media (e.g. water) are used, switching the valve causes
pressure surges in the tubing system.
• Before commissioning, check the compatibility of the devices in the system in
order to avoid damaging them. If necessary, adjust your application paramet-
ers (restrict pilot air).
Warning
Danger of injury at high media temperatures due to hot surfaces of the valve.
• Do not touch the valve during operation or immediately afterward.
• Allow the valve to cool off.
• Note the information on the rating plate.
• Only start up the product when it is fully installed and fitted.
• Check the connection points for tightness.
• Prior to commissioning, check for compliance with the operating conditions and
the permissible limit values (e.g. operating medium, pilot medium, operating
pressure, pilot pressure, differential pressure, ambient temperature and media
temperature).

• To achieve the longest possible service life of the valve, set the pilot pressure as
low as possible and limit the standard nominal flow rate of the pilot air to max.
40 l/min.
– For liquid or gaseous operating media: In order to ensure the gas-tight seal of
the valve, the pilot pressure must be at least 2.5 bar higher than the pressure of
the medium at the inlet.
– For viscous operating media and solids: A lower differential pressure can be
sufficient here (< 2.5 bar).
– For solids: If a gas-tight seal is not required, a differential pressure of < 1 bar can
be sufficient.
Warning
Danger of injury from escaping operating medium
If the required differential pressure is not reached, the valve will not close com-
pletely. If the valve is located at the end of a tubing system, operating medium
will escape.
• For hot, aggressive operating media: Make sure nobody enters the area af-
fected by the escaping operating media.
Warning
If incompressible media are used (e.g. neutral water), pressure surges can result
from switching operations which can inadvertently open the valve momentarily
or even destroy it. If the maximum permissible operating pressure is exceeded, it
can, for example, result in damage to the pinch valve sleeve.
• Design the pipe system so that pressure surges are avoided.
• Optimise the application parameters, if necessary, to avoid pressure surges.

Operation
• Observe the operating conditions and limit values (
• Always observe the permissible limit values.
• Observe the maintenance information (
Warning
Danger of injury at high media temperatures due to hot surfaces of the valve.
• Do not touch the valve during operation or immediately afterwards.
• Allow the valve to cool off.

Maintenance and care
• Clean the product as required.
• As a precautionary measure, check the product in corresponding intervals for
leaks and functionality depending on its design and the potential danger of a
malfunction caused by a leaking cartridge.
• Recommendation: Replace the cartridge at corresponding intervals as a pre-
caution.
• Replace damaged cartridges or seals immediately.
The cartridge is subjected to mechanical loads and ageing, and is therefore a
wearing part. If the cartridge is damaged or worn, the proportional media valve will
no longer close properly. Media separation is then no longer guaranteed!
The cartridge must be replaced immediately.
The cartridge can be replaced with the corresponding spare parts by qualified
personnel. Information about spare parts and aids can be found at:

Disassembly
Note
The valve should only be dismantled by qualified personnel.
Warning
Danger of injury from hot media under pressure.
The media in the piping system and the valve can be hot and under pressure.
• Allow the valve and pipelines to cool and depressurise them.
Warning
Danger of injury from escaping operating medium.
A damaged cartridge can result in residual operating medium being found in the
product, which escapes when the product is dismantled.
• Observe the regulations specified by the operator with regard to the pro-
tective equipment to be used.
