2 Setup
The 2/2−way ball valves of the series VAPB consist of:
a housing with the corresponding piping connectors,
a soft−sealed ball as sealing body,
a switching shaft with spindle washer and position indicator. The slot direction
on the shaft corresponds to the flow direction.

3 Function
The rotation of the mounted semi−rotary drive or hand lever is transmitted to the
switching shaft of the ball valve.
The switching shaft transmits the rotation to the
soft−sealed ball. Depending on the switching position
the ball blocks or enables the flow. The ball valves
VAPB can be switched by 90° to the two positions
OPEN" and "CLOSED".
4 Application
As intended, the ball valves of the series VAPB serve as a process valve for the flow
control of neutral, liquid and gaseous fluids in piping systems.
The products are tailored to the requirements of the process industry (è cata
logue www.festo.com/catalogue). They are suitable for use in the chemical and
petrochemical industries.
The ball valves can be operated with an appropriate semi−rotary drive (flange to
ISO 5211) or hand lever.
Operation with abrasive media and solids is impermissible.
Before using the product, test the compatibility of the medium with the ma
terials of the product in order to avoid damage to the medium (è Technical
data).
Note that the maximum limit values such as operating pressures and tempera
tures must not be exceeded, even as an individual load.
The ball valves VAPB are inappropriate for permanent intermediate positions
and for controlling the flow rate. Such operation and can damage the seals and
is impermissible.
Welding in tubing is impermissible.
Use appropriate fittings to bolt the product to the tubing.

5 Transport and storage
Take the product's weight into account. Depending on the design, the product
weighs over 3 kg.
Ensure the following storage conditions:
Short storage periods in cool, dry, shaded and corrosion−protected locations.

6 Requirements for product use
Installation and commissioning is to be carried out only by qualified personnel in
accordance with the operating instructions.
Note
Incorrectly handling and failure to observe regulations can lead to product
damage.
· Make sure that all the instructions in these operating instructions are obser
ved. The product will then function correctly and reliably.
Compare the maximum values specified in these operating instructions with
your actual application (e.g. operating media, pressures, temperatures, masses,
flow rates).
Consider the ambient conditions at the site of operation.
Operate the product only in combination with neutral, liquid and gaseous fluids.
Use the product in its original state without any unauthorised modifications.
Protect the product from heavy impacts and high external loads.
Use the product only in perfect technical condition.
All applicable national and international regulations must be complied with.
Observe the same safety regulations for the ball valve as for the piping system.
The user/operator is responsible for the correct application and observation of the
relevant safety regulations while operating the ball valves.
7 Assembly
Assembly and operation only by trained, qualified personnel.
Warning
Danger or crushing! Danger of shearing!
During operation of the ball valve, body parts can be crushed or cut in the orifice
of the ball valve.
· Do not reach into the orifice of the ball valve.
