1.3 Installing and connecting the components in the vehicle

from the interior to the wheel arch
the existing wiring grommet is used
4 - Towing hitch
Connection to the bumper wiring harness
5 - Control unit/bumper wiring harness
6 - CAN-Bus/power supply wiring harness
7 - CAN-Bus/power supply connection
CAN-Bus connection (drive) is at the airbag control unit
Power supply connection is at the 12 V socket or at the cigarette lighter in the central console
Preparatory work:
Remove the following vehicle components in line with the vehicle's ELSA repair handbook:
Top left boot trim
Bottom left boot trim
Driver's seat
Seating area of the rear seat
Backrest of the rear seat
Central console

plug the control unit -1- onto the stud bolts in the boot on the left and screw down using the hexagon nuts supplied
-Arrows-.
Insert and lock the black connector -2- of the control unit/bumper wiring harness on the control unit.
Insert and lock the brown connector -3- of the CAN-Bus/power supply wiring harness on the control unit.

Fix the buzzer -1- with the expanding rivet supplied -Arrows-.
Move the short part of the CAN-Bus/power supply wiring harness from the control unit to the buzzer.
Insert and lock the connector -2- on the buzzer -1-.

Screw the brown single wire of the CAN-Bus/power supply wiring harness to the earthing point -1-.
Lay the CAN-Bus/power supply wiring harness along the vehicle wiring harness -Arrows- to the airbag control unit
in the central console.

Remove the connector -1- from the airbag control unit.
Remove the harness protective tape from the connector -1- for a length of about 150 mm.
Disconnect the orange/black CAN High wire at a distance of about 75 mm from the connector -1-.
Crimp one end of the orange/black wire -2- in a supplied crimp connector -3-.
Crimp the free end of the orange/black wire -4- together with the orange/black single wire -5- of the CAN-Bus/power
supply wiring harness in the crimp connector -3-.
Disconnect the orange/brown CAN Low wire at a distance of about 75 mm from the connector -1-.
Crimp one end of the orange/brown wire -9- in a supplied crimp connector -8-.
Crimp the free end of the orange/brown wire -6- together with the orange/brown single wire -7- of the CAN-Bus/
power supply wiring harness in the crimp connector -8-.
Seal the crimp connectors -3- and -8- using the hot air gun from the wiring harness repair set. Heat shrink
-VAS 1978-.
Replace the harness protective tape and connect the connector -1- on the airbag control unit.
