3. MEANS OF PROVING ADEQUATE GROUNDING AREA
Theproperflame-rod-to-ground-arearatiocannot
alwaysbedeterminedbyvisualexaminationor
physicalmeasurement.Apositivemeansofchecking
theinstallationisthemeasurementoftheflamerod
currentunderactualfiringconditions.Itisdefinitely
recommendedthattheinstallermeasurethecurrent
flowbetweentheleadoftheflamerodunitandthe
terminalinthecontrolterminalboard(seeFigure7).
MeasurethecurrentwithaDCMicroammeterorequal.
Werecommendasteadyoutputof0.9microamperes
ormore.Asteadyflowofcurrentinthisamountunder
actualfiringconditionswillgenerallyindicateadequate
groundingofthepilotflame.
