5. Connecting the Faucet
CAUTION
Water supply to the tee should have a separate shut-off
valve. If it does not, a separate shut-off should be installed.
A) Determine the length of plastic tubing needed to connect the
outlet (right) side of the filter with the fauce. Be sure to allow
enough tubing to prevent kinking and cut the tubing squarely.
Use a marker to mark one end of the tubing 3/8-inch from the end
(Figure 5). Put the tubing insert into the tube. Slide the nut over
the tubing. Slide the ferrule over the tubing. Wet the tubing end.
Push it into the bottom of the faucet stub up to the mark. Slide
the ferrule up. Slide the compression nut up and screw it to the
faucet. Tighten until slight resistance is felt.
The ferrule must be placed onto the tubing with the large
CAUTION
diameter first. The smaller end must go into the faucet stem first, or a
leak is likely.
NOTE: Do not over tighten the 1/4-inch compression nut. Snug down
and tighten further only if leaks appear after putting the system into
operation.
B) Mark the remaining end of the tubing. Use a marker to mark
5/8-inch from the end. Wet the end of the tube. Insert the end into
the white collar fitting on the outlet side (right) of the system. The
tube should go in up to the mark (Figure 5).
NOTE: Tubing may be quickly and easily removed from the fitting if
necessary. First, turn off the water supply to the filter. Open faucet,
then press in the collet around the fitting while pulling the tubing with
your other hand.

cold water supply line. Be sure to allow enough tubing to prevent
kinking and cut the tubing squarely. Place a mark 5/8 inch from
one end of the tubing. Wet the end of the tubing. Insert the end of
the tubing into the 1/4-inch fitting of the inlet supply adapter. The
5/8-inch mark should be flush with the collar of the fitting located
on the inlet supply adapter (Figure 6).

the white collar fitting on the inlet side (left) of the system. The
tube should go in up to the mark (Figure 7).
Do not bend or kink tube when inserting.

NOTE: Make sure the tubing is

any tubing, cut tubing back ~
1/4 inch prior to re-inserting to
prevent leaks.
