PRECAUTIONS
WARNING
Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe
or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after
the system. Systems certified for cyst reduction may be used on
disinfected waters that may contain filterable cysts.
Filter must be protected against freezing, which can
CAUTION
cause structural damage and water leakage.
CAUTION
To prevent costly repairs or possible water damage, it
is strongly recommended that the filter head assembly be replaced
every ten years. If the filter head assembly has been in use for longer
than ten years, it should be replaced immediately. Date the top of
any new filter head assembly to indicate the next recommended
replacement date.
CAUTION
Turn off water supply to head if left unattended for an
extended period of time.
Do not use electrical heating tape on this product.
CAUTION
NOTE: For cold water use only.
NOTE: This installation must comply with all applicable state and
local regulations.
NOTE: The contaminants or other substances reduced by this water
treatment device are not necessarily in your potable drinking water.
Contact the local water treatment municipality for a copy of their
water analysis, or have the feed water tested by a reputable water-
testing laboratory.
NOTE: After prolonged periods of non-use, such as a vacation, it is
recommended that the system be flushed thoroughly. Let water run
for 2 to 3 minutes before using.
NOTE: The filter cartridge used with this system has a limited service
life. Changes in taste, odor, color, and/or flow of the water being
filtered indicate that the cartridge should be replaced.
NOTE: Do not install where system will be exposed to direct sunlight.
NOTE: Do not use aerosol sprays (bug spray, cleaning fluids, etc.)
near the system. These materials contain petroleum derivatives that
cause crazing and cracking of the system's plastic components.
NOTE: Filter must be maintained according to manufacturer's
recommendations, including replacement of filter cartridges. The
contaminants or other substances removed or reduced by this water
treatment device are not necessarily in your water.
INSTALLATION
For standard installation on 1/2-14 NPS threads (most common
thread on kitchen faucets).
Please read all instructions, specifications, and precautions before
installing and using the system.

1. Install the Inlet Supply Adapter
The inlet supply adapter fits 1/2-14 NPS threads. If local codes permit,
it may be used to connect system to cold water supply line.
NOTE: If local codes do not permit the use of the inlet supply adapter,
alternate connectors can be obtained from your local retailer.
A) Turn off the cold water supply. If the cold water line does not
have a shut-off valve under the sink, one should be installed.
B) Open the cold-water faucet and allow water to drain from line.
C) Disconnect the cold water line from the 1/2-14 NPS threaded stub
of the faucet.
D) Install the inlet supply adapter onto the cold water faucet stub
(Figure 1).
E) Using the nut that previously connected the cold water line to the
faucet, install the cold water line to the male threads of the inlet
supply adapter.

2. Selecting the Faucet Location
NOTE: The drinking water faucet should be positioned with function,
convenience and apperance in mind. An adequate flat area is
required to allow the faucet base to rest securely. The faucet fits
through a 5/8-inch hole. Most sinks have pre-drilled 1-3/8 inch or
1-1/2 inch diameter holes that accommodate this system's faucet. If a
pre-drilled hole is not available, it will be necessary to drill a 5/8-inch
hole into the sink (Figure 2).
This procedure may generate dust that can cause
WARNING
severe irritation if inhaled or if it comes into contact with the eyes.
The use of safety glasses and a respirator for this procedure is
recommended.
Do not attempt to drill through an all-porcelain sink.
WARNING
Instead, mount the faucet in a pre-drilled sprayer hole or mount the
faucet through the countertop.
When drilling through a countertop, ensure that the
WARNING
area beneath the surface to be drilled is clear from wiring or piping.
Ensure that there is enough clearance to connect the cold inlet
supply line to the bottom of the faucet.
WARNING
Do not drill through a surface that is more than
1 inch thick.
Do not attempt to drill through a tiled, marbled,
WARNING
granite or similar countertop. Consult a plumber or the countertop
manufacturer for advice or assistance.
