4 Function

This device provides a means of maintaining a vacuum within a prosthetic socket. The device
allows for manual adjustment of that vacuum and expulsion of air via the central button. The
device allows donning (pulling in) of prosthetic sockets via the removal of the central valve.

5 Maintenance

Visually check the device regularly.
Report any changes in performance of this device to the practitioner/service provider.
Changes in performance may include:
• Loss of vacuum
• Unusual noise
• Lack or loss of control/ connection
• Deterioration/ changes to the residual limb
• Tissue damage to the residual limb
• Changes in performance of the device
Inform the practitioner/service provider of any changes in body weight and/or activity level.
Use a damp cloth and mild soap to clean outside surfaces, do not use aggressive cleansers.
Cleaning the Device
The device is integrated into a prosthetic socket that should be cleaned daily to avoid any build
up of bacteria. Take care handling the socket and device to avoid picking up dust, grit and other
contamination which could cause irritation to the skin.
Dry thoroughly before use.
Cleaning the Residual Limb
1.
Inspect residual limb before and after prosthetic limb use or at least daily. Any deterioration
in residuum condition should be reported to the practitioner. If the residual limb has tissue
damage, advise your practitioner for advice.
2.
Clean the skin daily with an unperfumed, pH balanced soap, rinse the skin with clean water
to remove all residues.

Dry residual limb.
4.
Apply lotion to dry skin, as recommended by a practitioner.
5.
Make sure that any damaged skin or open wound is properly and suitably dressed to
prevent direct contact with the device.
The remaining instructions in this section are for practitioner use only.
Maintenance must be carried out only by competent personnel (practitioner or suitable trained
technician).
The following routine maintenance is to be carried out at least annually.
• Check that the device functions properly, if not fault find as per Fitting Advice.
