CLEANING AND SUPPORT
General notes
Regular cleaning and maintenance is essential for the good machine operation.
If the cleaning tasks are not made regularly it may accumulate dirt and it can cause lighting
fail and loss of efficiency and therefore more pellet consumption. Other consequence is the
increase of temperatures inside the stove and the exhaust gases temperatures leading to
greater wear and damage of the components.
This is why IKOS proposes a cleaning plan to be executed by the owner (daily, weekly and
monthly) and an annual maintenance (normally before the new cold season) and executed by
specialized technician.
Any cleaning or maintenance task should be performed with the equipment turned off
and completely cold.
The cleaning of the cover surfaces of the stove should be made with the equipment
completely cold, use only a humid and soft cloth.
Disconnect the stove from the socket before carrying out any operation.
Daily maintenance
The pellet stove requires careful maintenance. The most important thing is to periodically
remove the ashes from the pellet burning area. For your convenience, you may use a household
vacuum cleaner. The cleaning operation must be run after burning approximately 66lbs (30kg)
of pellets.
NOTE: However, before cleaning, the power of the unit must be turned off and the unit should
be allowed to cool off to prevent any accident.
Weekly cleaning
Remove the burning basket and the ash basket and vacuum both. The interior of the unit must
also be cleaned by opening the hatch. Finally, assemble the parts in the reverse order to which
they were removed and close the unit door.
The maintenance task frequency depends on the quality of the pellets.
