Fill level indicator [A]
The amount of material remaining in the cartridge can be monitored
using the fill level indicator. The fill level indicator flashes as long as the
fill level cannot be determined or when the last two indicator segments
have been reached and there is only enough material left in the cartridge
to fill one more impression tray.
Timer 1 [B]
Timer 1 is used to set the working time for the selected material. The
countdown begins when the mixing process starts. A long audio signal
indicates the end of the working time period.
Timer 2 [C]
Timer 2 is used to set the intraoral setting time for the selected material.
The countdown begins when the mixing process has ended. Three suc-
cessive audio signals indicate the end of the intraoral setting time.
Program display [D]
The device has 99 program memory locations, allowing the timer set-
tings to be assigned to a fixed program memory location and accessed
directly.
Standby indicator [E]
After 10:00 minutes, the display switches to standby mode. The display
automatically reactivates by pressing any button.
Mixing speed [F]
Unless a menu is selected, the mixing speed can at any time be increased
by pressing the Plus button [8] or decreased by pressing the Minus but-
ton [9]. Three speed levels are available.
Level 1
Level 2
Level 3
Software version [G]
The version of the software currently installed on the device is vis-
ible in the lower right corner for approx. 2 seconds when the device is
switched  on.
Cartridge indicator [H]
The cartridge indicator shows whether a cartridge has been inserted into
the device and is ready for operation. If the indicator symbol is crossed
out even though a cartridge has been inserted, then the cartridge has not
been inserted correctly.
Advance indicator [I]
If the advance indicator symbol is displayed, the pistons can move for-
ward. The symbol flashes when the pistons move quickly towards the
material. During the mixing process, the flashing symbol is also highlight-
ed.

cartridge exchange position is reached, the symbol is no longer  visible.
Recommended use
(Fig. see »Key assignment« and »Handling«)
Getting started [Fig. 01]
1. Place the device on a stable surface.
2. Connect the power cord to the device [2] and insert the power plug
into the power socket.
3. Then switch the device on using the toggle switch [1] located on the
back of the device.
All indicator symbols on the display will flash for about 2 seconds follow-
ing the device's short internal self-test.
The cartridge symbol will be crossed out if a cartridge has not been in-
serted or has not been inserted correctly.
If a cartridge is already inserted in the device, the fill level indicator will
flash until the fill level can be determined (after advancing the pistons).
For safety reasons, the device only works when a cartridge is inserted.
Using the foot switch (optional)
If the optional foot switch is to be used, plug the foot switch connector
into the socket [4] on the back of the MixStar eMotion and screw into
place. Pressing the foot switch mixes and dispenses the impression ma-
terial until the foot is removed from the foot switch.
Preparing a cartridge [Fig. 02-06]
1. Slide the locking mechanism upwards in order to open the cartridge.
Do not remove the locking mechanism from the cartridge.
2. Remove the seal from the cartridge and discard.
3. Firmly attach a new mixing tip.
4. Secure the mixing tip by sliding the locking mechanism into the
locked position. After use, leave the used mixing tip on the cartridge
as a seal.
5. Insert the cartridge into the device from above. A short audio signal
confirms correct insertion of the cartridge. Discard approximately 3
cm of the initially ejected material of each new cartridge before pre-
paring the first impression.
Filling the impression trays [Fig. 07-08]
Both hands remain free for filling the impression tray due to the simple
two button operation or operation via the foot switch.
By pressing the Plus button [8] or the Minus button [9], the mixing speed
can be increased or decreased across three levels. This is also possible
during the dispensing process.
1. Start the mixing process by pressing the Start/Stop button [5] or by
using the foot switch.
If Timer 1 has been set, it will now start its countdown. The end of the
working time period is indicated by a long audio signal.
When using a new MixStar cartridge, discard the first 3 cm of the
mixed material. Please observe the manufacturer's instructions for
use for the material selected.
After pressing the Start/Stop button [5], all the elements which have
not been set are hidden from the display to provide a clearer over-
view.
2. Hold the impression tray at a slight angle beneath the mixing tip. To
avoid air bubbles, make sure the mixing tip is immersed in the ma-
terial when filling and continuously fill the tray with the impression
material.
