Polaris LCS Installation Instructions
Installing the LCS
Important: Always handle the Polaris LCS
with care. Do not let children or pets play with
the LCS; it is not a toy.
1. Before installing the Polaris Leaf Canister
and Skimmer (LCS), verify that the pool
filter and pump basket are clean.
After cleaning the pool filter, record the filter
pressure here for future reference: ____ psi.
We recommend cleaning the pool filter
when the pressure is 5-10 psi above the
number recorded here.
2. Turn off the pool pump.
3. Install a suction cleaner according to the
manufacturer's installation instructions.
4. Unscrew the two drain plugs at the
bottom of the float assembly. See the
Exploded Parts Diagram.
5. Turn the LCS upside down and completely
submerge it in the pool.
6. Keeping the LCS submerged, allow all of
the air to escape from the float assembly.
7. Reinstall the drain plugs and tighten them
with a coin or screwdriver. Make sure no
air re-enters the LCS.
8. Turn the LCS upright.
9. Hold the cleaner hose underwater and
separate it at four hose sections from the
pool wall or pool skimmer.
10. Securely insert the hose from the pool cleaner
into the female hose connection on the LCS.
11 . For skimmer installations: Attach hose from
the pool skimmer to the swivel on the LCS.
For dedicated suction line installations:
Connect the hose from the pool wall to the
swivel on the LCS. Verify that all the flow is
directed to the dedicated suction line.
12. If any type of flow regulator was installed for
the pool cleaner, remove it and attach the
hose directly to the suction inlet.
®
13. Turn on the pool pump.
14. Adjust the flow regulator knob on the bottom
of the LCS housing until the cleaner operates
at the manufacturer's specifications.
Checking Operation
When operating correctly, the LCS will float on
the surface of the pool, drawing water into its
basket. The LCS travels through the pool with
the movement of the pool cleaner. It will capture
most debris from the surface before it sinks to
the bottom. Debris that does sink and is collect-
ed by the pool cleaner will be trapped in the
LCS before it reaches the pump basket.
The LCS performance is dependent on the
available water flow in the pool. It is important to
maintain a clean filter to ensure the LCS oper-
ates at maximum efficiency. It is equipped with a
flow regulator that, once set, will optimize and
automatically adjust the water flow to the cleaner.
If the LCS is not operating as described, refer to
the "Troubleshooting" Section.
Cleaning the Basket
Please note: Do not remove the basket while
the pool pump is operating.
1. Turn off the pool pump.
2. Press down slightly while turning the handle
counterclockwise. Lift the basket from the
housing. See the drawing for step 3.
