Reassembling the fork
Description of the 1-1/8''» steering assembly :
• Lower part and upper part :
Single piece bearing at 45°,
Ø outside 41 mm.
Do a dry run installation of all elements of the fork according to Figure b, without tightening to
determine the length of the pivot tube. See Figures b, c and d.
1 – Put the lower bearing into place, taking care to put the inner chamfer onto the cone.
2 – Check that the black thrust bearing split rings (lower and upper) are present in the steering
bushing of the frame, and insert the pivot tube into the bushing.
3 – Place the upper bearing in the bushing, respecting the assembly direction.
4 – Installing the split tapered bushing.
5 – Install the carbon cap (+ spacers if necessary)
6 – If necessary, put the thickness ring(s) (spacers) into place as a function of the required
handlebar stem height.
7 – Put the handlebar stem into place without blocking it.
8 – Hold the fork firmly in position and press on the handlebar stem so as to compress the
steering assembly.
9 – Add the necessary rings (possibly spacers and always the special upper ring) and mark the
position of the cut to be made on the pivot tube (Figure c).
10 – Disassemble the assembly to cut the fork pivot, 1 to 2 mm under the marked location.
11 – Reassemble the assembly as shown in the assembly diagram in Figure b.
12 – Take the adjustment cap; make sure that the cap is screwed onto the expander by several
turns.
