Undercarriage GIB.
Clamp the lever for the swivel device (6).
Belt grinder GI 150 2H.
Open the side cover (5). Mount the angled-plate (8)
and the counter-plate (7) with the bolts (10).
GIR.
Tighten the previously loosened mounting
bolts (20) at the front and rear of the foot pedestal
again.
Turn the four levelling mounts down with the star-
knob bolts (22) until they touch the ground. After-
wards, turn the levelling mounts approx. two revo-
lutions further.
Fill up the collection tank (17) halfway with water.
Position the collection tank between the support
columns of the radius grinding module.
Caution! Danger of fire when operating the module
without water filled in the collection tank!
Mount the contact roller (Figure 3).
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the power
plug from the socket outlet.
Open cover (23) and pull the worktable back.
Loosen both locking screws (25) in the fork guide
and remove the contact roller (24).
Insert the contact roller (24) with the required diam-
eter into the fork guide and secure it with both lock-
ing screws (25).
For contact rollers with large diameter, the posi-
tion of the belt clamping device on the belt grinder
may have to be changed, if required.
Adjust the belt tracking each time after changing a
contact roller.
Contact rollers should always be stored in the hold-
ing device/magazine (21) when not in use.
Mounting/replacing the grinding belt.
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the power
plug from the socket outlet.
When starting the operation of the GI150/GI1502H belt
grinder for the first time: Check the direction of rota-
tion.
Loosen the belt tension lever (11) and assemble a
grinding belt, size 150 x 2250 mm.
The direction-of-rotation mark of the grinding belt
must correspond with the direction of rotation.
Tension the grinding belt with the belt tension
lever (11).
Move the sanding belt manually and observe, if it
moves off towards the left or right of the contact
roller.
Adjust the guidance of the drive wheel on the belt
grinder in such a manner that the grinding belt runs
centred. The exact adjustment is made with the
machine running.
Operating instructions.
Wear safety glasses.
Close the cover/side cover (23)/(5). When the protec-
tive devices are not mounted, the grinding belt can
catch hold of your clothing and cause serious injury.
Turn the button of the red emergency OFF pushbut-
ton on the GI150/GI1502H belt grinder toward the
right and flip the button upward. The On/Off switch
is located below the red emergency OFF pushbut-
ton.
Switching ON:
Push the green button.
Switching OFF:
Push the red button.
GI 150 2H: Work only with low speed!
In case of an emergency, immediately push the red
emergency OFF pushbutton on the belt grinder.
Adjusting the grinding belt.
Briefly switch on the belt grinder.
Observe the tracking direction of the grinding belt.
Adjust the belt tracking on the belt grinder until the
grinding belt runs centred on the contact roller (24).
When the belt tracking can not be adjusted centred,
the parallelism of the GIR must be readjusted (fig. 4):
Loosen the four mounting bolts (12).
Loosen the two bolts (10).
Readjust the alignment mounting screws (27) using
an Allen key, size 4 mm.
Tighten bolts (10) and (12) again.
Check the parallelism of the belt tracking. Repeat the pre-
vious step if the results are not satisfactory.
NOTE: The guide mechanism for the contact roller of the
GIR is factory-set to be parallel. Readjustment is only
required when centred tracking is not achieved while
adjusting the drive wheel.
Adjusting the centre height (Figure 3).
The height of the contact roller is usually set to the centre
of the pipe. However, the adjustment can be changed:
Unclamp the clamping lever (14).
Adjust the contact roller to the required height with
the lever (13).
Tighten the clamping lever again.
Check the adjustment by carrying out a grinding test.
Working instructions.
GI 150 2H: Work only with low speed!
Wear safety glasses.
Adjust the belt tracking.
Adjust the centre height.
If required, use a length stop (accessory) for precise
clamping of the work piece.
Position yourself next to the machine and pull the
feed lever (29) with your left hand.
Turn the crank (28) with your right hand in order to
move the worktable laterally and to ensure uniform
wear of the grinding belt. In this, the work piece
must not come beyond the edges of the grinding
belt.
Always work with uniform feed pressure.
