Part 10. Sealing plug (only for top outlet)
Part 14. Floor plate (optional extra)
Part 15. Ventilation element 1
Part 16. Ventilation element 2
Part 17. Split element (2 sections)
Part 18. Hot air barrier
Part 19. Insulation, 10 cm
Part 20. Ash lip
1. The bottom plate (part 1) should be put in place. Check it is
level using a spirit level and adjust as necessary using adhesive
or mortar. It is extremely important that the bottom plate be
steady and level.
2. The base (part 3) should be inserted in slots in the bottom
plate. Check that it is level.
3. Glue the ash lip (part 20) to the edge of the base below the
burn chamber.
4. Move the burn chamber into position. When using the outside
air connection (optional extra, cat. no. 51012164), this has to be
fitted now. Position the burn chamber in the four grooves in
the base (part 3) See fig. 6. Make sure that the flexible hose
for combustion air is not trapped. Route the hose out through
the hole in the rear of the base (part 3). Suggested installation
of the flexible hose: See fig. 10A, B and C. Remove the pieces
of wood carefully so that the burn chamber does not topple
over. The approval label, which is attached by a wire, is fed
under the burn chamber and down into the base.
5. Adjust the burn chamber horizontally so that it is flush with
the front of the base. See fig. 6. Level and adjust the burn
chamber vertically using the long nuts in the adjusting kit
(part 4). NB: It is extremely important for the burn chamber
to be vertically level!
6. Move the rear section (part 5) into position. The rear section
has two protrusions, fig. 7A, which fit into slots in the base, fig.
7B. Adjust the burn chamber to fit the hollow on the inside of
the rear plate. See fig. 8.
7. Move the side frames into position (parts 6 and 7). NB: The side
frames must be flush with the base (part 3) and be attached
using acrylic adhesive.
8. Push the threaded bar (part 8) through the hole in the base
and lock it underneath with nut and washer. Then thread the
connection angle (part 2) on the threaded bar (part 8) and
hook it onto the insert. Lock in place with nut. NB: Tighten
the nut carefully! See fig. 9 A + B.
9. Move cowl 1 (part 9) into position in the slots. NB: When top
mounting is used, glue the sealing plug (part 10) in place using
acrylic adhesive.
10. Insert ventilation elements 1 and 2 (parts 15 and 16). T h e s e
elements must be inserted the right way round so that air
blows forwards. The small part goes at the back.
11. Installation using a top outlet/steel chimney:
The product is supplied from the factory with the smoke outlet
fitted for the top outlet.
• Fit an offset pipe, 50 mm (optional extra).
• M a k e s u r e t h a t t h e g a s k e t i s p r o p e r l y s e a t e d
b e t we e n t h e o ffs e t p i p e a n d t h e s m o ke o u t l e t .
• Insert the hot air barrier (part 18). When top mounting is used,
remove the punched-out section for the flue pipe (start pipe).
• Mount an uninsulated pipe from the offset pipe to approx.
1 cm over the hot air barrier (part 18). Thread the flue pipe
through the hot air barrier (part 18), then place it in the offset
pipe.
• Then fit the steel chimney in accordance with the chimney
supplier's operating instructions. See fig. 2.
12. Installation using a rear outlet:
• Use the smoke outlet installed for the top outlet. Fit the flue
pipe in accordance with the instructions from the smoke
outlet to the chimney through the hole in cowl 1 (part 9).
See 4.2.
• Insert the hot air barrier (part 18). When top mounting is used,
remove the punched-out section for the flue pipe (start pipe).
30
13. Insert the insulation (part 19). When top mounting is used,
make holes for flue pipe/steel chimney bushing.
14. Adapt the split element (part 17).
NB:There must be a gap of at least 20 mm to the ceiling. See
fig. 12.
15. Lift the sections into place and glue with acrylic adhesive.
NB: It is extremely important that the installation be stable! If
there is any uncertainty about its stability, the surround must
be secured to the wall by a wire or similar means.

5.0 Installation completed

See Installation instructions with technical data for Jøtul F 370
(cat. no. 221830) for use and maintenance of the product!
5.1 Painting
Painting can take place the day after installation. Use water-based
paint. If you want to create some surface texture, mix some tile
cement into the paint.
5.2 Minor damage
Once the insert has been installed, any nicks or irregularities in
the concrete should be filled using the cement filler included in
the kit.
• In order to achieve the best result the surround should
be rubbed down with fine sandpaper, smoothing any
unevenness or sharp edges prior to painting.
• Then apply one coat.
• Mix the powder (cement filler) with water to form a smooth
paste (like toothpaste).
• Smooth away any unevenness, allow to dry and then rub
down with fine sandpaper.
• If the hole is deep, we recommend applying the filler in two
stages to prevent it sinking.
• Apply a second coat of the desired colour.
5.3 Cracks
In some instances, small cracks may appear at the joints after a
few months' use due to settling of the building. These cracks can
be easily repaired:
• Open up the crack with a tool, e.g. a screwdriver, to create
more room for the grouting cement.
• First remove any dust using a vacuum cleaner. Then inject
some acrylic grout, and smooth it off using a wet, soapy
fingertip.
• After a couple of days the joint can be repainted.
