10.4 ENGINE
Refer to the separate engine manual for engine maintenance instructions.
Maintain engine oil as instructed in the separate engine manual packed with your unit. Read and follow
instructions carefully.
Service air cleaner as per separate engine manual under normal conditions.
Clean every few hours under extremely dusty conditions. Poor engine performance and flooding usually
indicates that the air cleaner should be serviced.
To service the air cleaner, refer to the separate engine manual packed with your unit.
The spark plug should be cleaned and the gap reset once a season. Spark plug replacement is
recommended at the start of each mowing season; check engine manual for correct plug type and gap
specifications.
Clean the engine regularly with a cloth or brush. Keep the cooling system (blower housing area) clean to
permit proper air circulation which is essential to engine performance and life. Be certain to remove all grass,
dirt and combustible debris from muffler area.
10.5 CLEAN THE DECK AND CUTTING BLADE (Only for DYM1678D-3)
WARNING: Before cleaning, stop mower and disconnect spark plug cable.
WARNING: The cutting blade continues to rotate for a few seconds after the engine is shut off.
NOTE: Before cleaning, remove the grass catcher and discharge channel, and then mount the mulching
wedge.
The cutter and deck covered with residues after every time using or the last mowing of the season, if you want
to clean, you can follow these steps:
1. Insert the hose connector into the cleaning hole-connector on the deck; ensure they are firmly connected
(Fig.18A/18B).
2. Insert another end of the hose into the water tap, and then open the switch.
3. Connect the spark plug cable,and then start the engine as same as the section 7.2.
4. After operating about five minutes, check the deck and cutter whether they are clean already and then stop
the engine, water tap and disconnect spark plug cable. If they still have residues, you can continue the 3-5
steps.
5. After cleaning, take away the hose, and store in a clean and safety place.
6. Wipe the water on the deck and cutter surface, and then lightly grease the cutter to avoid corrosion and
rust.

Start the engine carefully according to instructions and with feet well away from the blade.
Do not tilt the lawn mower when starting the engine. Start the mower on a level surface, free of high
grass or obstacles.
