INTRODUCTION ______________________________________________________________________________
Honeywell North HM500 Series is a half mask designed for use in general industrial, commercial,
and agricultural environments. The HM500 Series consists of a thermoplastic elastomer facepiece, a
single unit two-point head harness system with a neck strap (see fig. 1 for difference between HM501
and HM502 head harness attachment) and a twin filter system for connection of approved Honeywell
North filters. The HM502 allows users to doff mask without removing hard hats, ear muffs or eye wear,
while the HM501 is great for work environments that need fixed, all-shift protection.
Please read these user instructions carefully before use and follow them while using the breathing
device. You shall be authorised to use the HM500 Series half mask only after completion of an
appropriate training and by following the local work and safety regulations.

LIMITATIONS OF USE ________________________________________________________________________
1) It is user's responsibility to ensure that the mask provides the necessary level of protec-
tion for the type and concentration of the contaminants in the area where the mask is
intended for use.
2) The half mask provides protection against particles, gases and vapours depending on
the selected filter. Use the half mask only with the approved N-Series BAYOTWIN filters
certified in accordance with EN 14387+A1 and EN143.
3) Check that there is no hair between the mask and your face. The air tightness of the mask
might also be compromised by whiskers, beard or spectacles. Do not use the half mask if
an effective face seal cannot be achieved.
4) Do not use in oxygen deficient atmosphere (any atmosphere having less than 17%
oxygen by volume at sea level) and in atmospheres where the concentrations of Toxic
Contaminants are unknown or are Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH).
5) Half masks are in conjunction with approved N-series BAYOTWIN filters acceptable for
use in the following explosive atmospheres:
• Dust (zone 21 – temporary exposure)
• Gas Group I (zone 1– temporary exposure) and Group II (zone 1– temporary exposure)
6) The maximum mass of filters designated to be used directly connected to half mask
is 300 g.
7) Do not alter or modify the half mask in any way. Any alterations or modifications,
including painting, affixing labels or using unapproved replacement parts can reduce
protection and expose the user to the risk of illness, bodily injury or death.
8) Use of spare parts, components or accessories other than those manufactured by HON-
EYWELL RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS can endanger the correct system operation,
lead to the damage of the device, malfunction and may damage the health of user.
