Make sure that the metal plate on the smaller connector is facing up when
you plug it into the USB connector on the CD-RW drive.
3. Plug the larger end of the USB cable into the USB port on your computer.
4. Connect the power adapter to the drive and to the wall outlet.
5. Optional Power Sharing Device - used when the user would like to power
the IBM USB 2.0 Portable CD-RW drive using the ThinkPad 56W, 72W ac,
or 72 dc power adapters.
Installing the device drivers
This section provides information on installing device drivers to your
computer.
To install the device driver, follow the instructions that correspond to your
operating system.
Installing the device driver for Windows 98
1. After you have connected the CD-RW drive in your computer, turn on your
computer if it is not already on. A popup window will open.
2. In the New Hardware wizard for IBM USB Portable CD-RW Drive window,
click Next.
3. Select the Search for the best driver for your device check box.
4. Insert the IBM USB Portable CD-RW Drive Option diskette into your diskette
drive.
5. Select the diskette drive check box.
6. Click Next twice.
7. Click Finish to complete the device driver installation.
You can now use the CD-RW drive with Windows 98.
Installing the device driver for Windows Me, Windows 2000,
and Windows XP
The USB device driver is included in Windows Me, Windows 2000, and
Windows XP operating systems. When this drive is connected, Windows will
automatically install the appropriate device driver and the drive will be ready
to be used. You do not have to perform any special installation or
un-installation.
