If the speaker cables are 15mm diameter or less, they
may be routed through the stand pillars. Lay the stand
on the floor and feed the cable through a hole in the
base, up the pillar and out through the slot in the top
plate. If bi-wiring, use both pillars, one for each cable.
Turn the stands right way up and place them back into
position. The feet will provide sufficient room for the
cable between the floor and the base of the stand.
Floors are seldom perfectly flat and the stands may
wobble. If that is the case, unscrew the two opposing
feet that are not bearing properly on the floor until
the wobble is removed. Keeping the feet still, screw
the lock nuts up until they are tight to the base of the
stand, to keep the feet at the correct extension.
For optimum sound quality, we recommend you add
dry sand to the stand pillars and, if you wish to do
this, you should do so at this point. You will need four
strong plastic bags slightly deeper than the pillar height
and sufficient dry sand (variously called silver, play or
silica sand) to fill the pillars. Depending on where you
source the sand, you will need approximately 7kg to
10kg (15 lb to 20 lb).
Using the Torx key, unscrew and remove the top plate
from the pillars. Push a plastic bag down each large
pillar cavity, taking care not to pierce the bag. Fill each
bag with sand, periodically tapping the sides of the
pillar to make sure the sand fills the cavity, and fold
excess plastic over the sand. Replace the top plate,
feeding the cable(s) up through the slot(s).
