CAUTION
It is very important that the container cap is attached all the way to the pump body.
Use of Ambu® Res-Cue Pump™
The Res-Cue Pump is operated by a simple squeezing action of the trigger. The
adjustment stroke knob will enable it to produce various suction volumes (see below).
Pull or squeeze the trigger toward the pump handle. This squeezing mechanism will
generate the vacuum in the pump and suck the fluids into the container. Once suction
is completed, remove tubing slowly from the patient. Remove filled container by
unsnapping the container (and tubing) from the pump. Place container along with the
tubing in the poly bag. Discard disposable tubing and container appropriately.
If required, place a label on the container for transportation to the laboratory.
Adjust the stroke
To adjust the stroke of the handle, turn the adjustment stroke knob. With the stroke
adjustment knob seated at horizontal position, the stroke provides a maximum vacuum
of -450 mmHg. With the stroke adjustment knob turned 90° counter-clockwise to vertical
position, the pump will generate a maximum vacuum of -225 mmHg.
Overfill protection mechanism
The collection container is equipped with an overfill protection mechanism. Once the
collection container is full, the overfill protection mechanism will be engaged. When the
mechanism is engaged, it is not possible to squeeze the handle for further suctioning
(extremely high resistance will be felt when trying to do so). When this happens, empty
the container or use a backup container for further suctioning.
The overfill protection mechanism will ensure that the fluid will not enter the pump
housing once the container is full.
CAUTION
• The pump shall not be shaked while pumping or during use.
• The pump should not be tilted for the angles more than 45 degree while pumping
or during use.
If the pump handle becomes difficult to operate, a blockage may have occurred.
Do not continue suctioning until the source of the blockage has been determined
(remove the blockage from either the catheter, the adapter or the cap).
