Adapters
One grey adapter tip for finger-tip connector and one adapter for funnel shape
connector is included with the Res-Cue Pump. To use catheter with finger-tip connector
and funnel shape connector for suction, attach larger end of the adapter tip to the
canister cap and catheter to the smaller end of the adapter tip. Standard suction catheter
tubing with finger-tip connector and funnel shape connector is not included. Follow
your local protocol for all suctioning practice.
Note: If the pump is turned upside down, the overfill protection mechanism will be
engaged making it impossible to suction. If sudden resistance is felt during suctioning
and at the same time container is not full then the overfill protection mechanism might
have become engaged. If the overfill mechanism is activated and the valve blockage
occurred, the container should be removed from the pump unit to deactivated the
overfill mechanism and release the stuck valve. If it is still difficult to operate the pump
handle and resistance is felt, check for the blockage as described earlier.
6. Cleaning - disinfecting - sterilising
Disassembly
Remove the container by unsnapping the cap with attached container ② and tubing ①
from the pump ③.
Disinfect the pump and handle (by scrubbing with warm soapy water, mild detergent,
bleach solution etc.) before placing into storage.
Assembly
To assemble the Res-Cue Pump after cleaning screw a new container ⑤ into the cap ④
and push the cap firmly onto the connector of the pump ③ until it snaps in.
Select appropriate size tubing ① (according to the size of the patient) and select it to
the adapter (if not attached already). Attach the adapter with tubing to the cap of the
container ②.
7. Test for correct function
Check the handle's condition and the pump function before returning it to service.
Mount a container, occlude the suction port by thumb or palm and squeeze the pump
handle to check for the vacuum.
